THIRTY – I have a mischievous friend

I didn’t know what Miko told her but I knew he called that girl. I heard him say Cassie when he was on the phone. And he used my phone. I didn’t go to my class for first and second period, I just stayed there where the air was blowing, wishing that it could blow my sorrows away.

Lying down on a shade of a tree on the park, I lost interest to what I had been reading. Instead I used the book to cover my face and try not to forget everything. I was feeling a little bit relaxed with the cool breeze of the wind when I felt something drop on my stomach. And then I felt a shadow towered me.

“What the…” I said in instinct and then removed the book covering my face to see what it was. I saw the same girl from the library earlier and she was standing there looking at me. I noticed her facial expression changed from something amused to a bit taken aback. I also saw the flowers I earlier gave to Miko to throw in the trash.

I took the flower and stood. Now the girl took a step back. She looked much shorter now.

I looked around and saw the grin on Miko’s face. He was at the parking lot watching from afar. I saw the card attached to the flower. “To the fairest and then the name Cassie.” So this was what he was writing earlier. That stupid Carlo is scheming something. I was about to go him, I was angry he tried plotting something like this. But why the hell did this lady disturbed me and out of nowhere drop this bouquet over me.

“If you wanted to give me this bouquet, you could have given it to me properly you know.” I told her while coming closer and she kept walking backward as if I am some animal trying to attack her.

“It is a mistake. I thought you were…” Poor girl, I thought. She was already in panick. Maybe I should just continue this. Maybe if I try to scare her, she won’t come near me again despite whatever plot Miko would be making. Well, that’s it. I would scare her. “I thought you are a different person.” She looked like she was about to run or hide.

I ginned at her trying to look a bit sarcastic and scary. I moved closer as well while she moved back. I saw a tree nearby and thought maybe I could corner her there. She would be helpless and afraid. “Girls always say that. That they have mistaken you for their boyfriends, well am I not hot enough to be your boyfriend? You don’t have to be shy.” I said with a forced grin on my lips. I came closer to her and she continued to move backward toward the tree. I moved a little bit faster too smiling to myself. “I know how attractive I am too girls.”

“No.” I heard her say. She was really frantic now. I feel bad for her but I have to do this.

“No?” I asked going closer to her. “So you are not attracted to me?” I continued knowing exactly that she meant I should not come near. I knew how to play with words. “But why do you give me these flowers?” And then she stopped. She was now trapped, she realized that now but it was too late.

“I am not saying that you are not attractive.” She pushed herself to the tree as if she could move it backward. I took a deep breath for the finale. I moved closer to her and put my hands to both side of her so she could not be free. I was really feeling sorry for her but this is for the best.
