The girl was lying on her mattress spread out on the floor as a bed in grey room which had little in it except for some slots in the wall where several sharp weapons fit into.
Usually when lying down, regular girls have a million thoughts running through their heads— school, parents, friends, boys, what to eat, what drama to watch, whether there were any new cute guys at school, how to procrastinate homework, when to go shopping next...
But Chiyo's mind had none of these. There was none of that to think about— no family in her memory to miss, no texts to blush over...Meals were delicious, but nothing special, she couldn't really care for dramas or music...There was no homework to worry over...And...the guys at Memoralia institution were either too weak, too useless, or too engrossed in their practice or work to care. In other words, to Chiyo, the guys she had to put up with and train with all the time were a pain.
They were easy to beat in hand-to-hand combat, shooting, tracking, and even technology, which guys were supposed to be good at. But perhaps...this was what came from having been at the institution as far as her memory could go back to.
As far as she could remember, Chiyo had been here all her life. They never told her who her family was, or why she ended up here, and Chiyo never asked either because it seemed normal to her. It was only as she grew up she realised all the other guys and girls at the institution had family that either died or family that sent them here— but by then, it didn't quite matter to her anymore.
Chiyo didn't have friends because she didn't bother making them. That was ever since all of the girls she tried making friends with slowly left the institution. Her once best friend Jinhee from when she was 8 years old— the girl she thought was like her sister and understood everything— left one day, a horrid smirk on her face as she said these words: "You think I've been nice to you? That was only so you would help me complete this disgusting training and let me get out of this place. I'll go live my life back as a princess, while you can stay here like trash." It was from then that Chiyo decided never to show her emotions to anyone again.
Until...Until one day, she was by Sir Tak to take the new batch of trainees and train them. She remembered stepping into the main training hall as usual with her emotionless face, approaching the group of boys standing there. Their handsome smiles and dashing attitudes nearly made her stop in her tracks, but Chiyo continued on. It was always like this; the guys would stare at her thinking it was their luck for getting a pretty female instructor at Memoralia— that was until she'd start yelling at them the same speech she gave to every newcomer. Usually by then the group of boys would be scared silent by her strict attitude so contrary to her face...But this one boy, Taehyung...
He never stopped smirking at her.
When he whispered in her ear "I'm so glad you're Bangtan's instructor" with that deep, soulful, yet cheeky voice of his before walking away— that was just the very first brick he tore away from the wall she built up. In those months to come, he was the one who tore her wall down gradually. Chiyo came to love Taehyung— but that..
That was only until the end of last year when the 8 of them went on a mission.
Chiyo sighed and rolled herself face down into the pillow she was lying on. All these memories would flood into her mind everytime she had free time to think, and that was why she liked keeping busy. Running, fighting, programming codes...At least they took her mind of them.
Those 7 boys who came into her life, changed everything, and walked away. It was only after they walked away that she had realised it was all an act, just a game she unfortunately had been in. It was only after they walked away that she realised: the very first brick Taehyung tore away at her when he said "I'm still so glad you're Bangtan's instructor"... He meant something very different to what she thought. He was glad she was so conveniently female and their trainer— all the easier to make her fall in love.
All the easier to betray her on that final crucial mission.
It was all too easy to betray someone blinded by love.
So Chiyo was never going to fall in love again. This time, she'd build her walls up better— Jinhee, then Taehyung...Two was enough.
There would not be a third.
Love got in the way of things— made you stupid, made you vulnerable. There were its highs, but it wasn't worth the pain.

"Chiyo, I need you to help me take the next batch of trainees."
"Sir, these new trainees are getting worse and worse each time. The other batch had absolutely no stamina and they were like drowning puppies, the one before kept 'accidentally' destroying everything when practicing shooting, and the last ones were so stupid-," the girl shook her head in memory, "they took a whole week to learn how to use the tracking devices"
"Chiyo, just because you've been training ever since you could walk AND you have the natural talent doesn't mean everyone learns as quickly as you. I don't know why but suddenly you've changed. You used to enjoy training the newcomers and smile so much, and Bam! I don't know what it was that did it from that last mission, but you need some cool water to that fire of yours."
"Sir, but that's a complete waste of my time!"
"This is your punishment from failing the last mission Chiyo. I have 13 boys for you this time, and they're all from important families."
"THIRTEEN boys from important families?" the girl burst out even though she tried to kept silent after being reminded of her punishment, "Sir! We aren't running a day care for chaebol heirs here. This is a secret organisation. This is a training ground!"
The elder man's gaze turned stern. "You think I don't know that Chiyo? Don't mess this up- they're going on missions after 7 months." The man turned and left the small underground dorm room everyone had to themselves at the Memoralia organisation.
"Ugh," Chiyo breathed to herself as she pulled her hair up into a ponytail, "It's okay Chiyo. You can do it. A punishment is a punishment. It was your fault for falling into their lies in the last mission.
You can......
UGH! This is gonna be a pain in the arse!!" Chiyo yelled as she flung one of the small knives towards the wall, allowing it to shoot accurately into one of the empty slots alongside all the other weapons on the wall. Her specialty was hand to hand combat and technology.
