Eden

We ran, the cool breeze of the wind caressing our fur. Our prey fled, the deer sensing and smelling our scent before we even made it close enough to attack. A twisted curl which in human terms would be considered a smirk stretched my muzzle. They could flee all they please, at the end of the day, they would feed my pack nonetheless.

I sped up, taking control of the party and leading them to a different approach. Teeth snapped at me from my right side and I was bum rushed onto my back, a muzzle pulled back in a snarl of sharp canines just above my face.

Once the shock of being blindsided wore off, a harsh growl tore from deep inside of me as I got up on all fours. I rammed into my attacker and my teeth bit into the disrespectful pup, breaking skin through his fur, causing his blood to drip in fast hot blots upon the forest floor, creating a river of red.

His whimper of pain was loud and his tail lowered between his hind legs, signaling his submission. I didn't release my hold on his neck even after he already back away from me and I followed him, my teeth sinking further into his skin, the act causing my eyes to turn wild.

The pup lifted up into the air as I used my body to raise him and I tossed him into a tree, his body hitting the trunk with a deafening thud. I walked over to the pup, his blood tasting like copper in my mouth.

"You will never challenge me again! Know your place!" I snarled through the telepathic connection called mind link that all wolf hybrids seemed to possess.

"Forgive me Eden, I was out of line. It won't happen again." His words sounded strained and I relinquished my snarl. He was just a pup after all. I turned my back to him and sniffed the air, searching for new prey since I was sure the deer were far gone by now.

"Eden, perhaps we should just turn back, Farou's injuries have to be tended." I gave a sidelong glance at the other two wolves, nonchalance evident in my eyes.

"If you wish to leave, be my guests. I have no need for you all. Go and take care of the pup." They ran back towards the direction of the village we resided in. A small community consisting of wooden cabins we had built on our own and that we called home. It wasn't the best there was nor the flashiest but we made do and no one went without. After all, we were the wolves of Raiven, who would oppose our hierarchy?

Sure, we seemed to live in poverty but it was by choice, not force. Simon Marx led us into a life without stress and pure peace. Only fools would challenge Alpha Marx and the death wishing ones who did, got what they wanted, never living to tell the story.

Of course, there were whispers on the wind about an up and coming pack that slaughtered all that opposed them with no mercy, whispers about the pack having two Alphas. How there could be two in one pack I did not know, but it reeked of trouble.

Two of Marx would drive me up a fucking wall and I would've had to rip one of their throats out. My stomach rumbled and dragged me from the recesses of my mind, focusing back on my task of food.

I caught a whiff of antelope and dashed towards the tantalizing scent. I hadn't eaten since yesterday as punishment because I had failed to provide food for the pack when it was my turn. I would not fail again. Marx would be angry and I wasn't in the mood to fight him. I whipped past the bushes and trees, making sure to stay running in the dry dirt to keep the sounds of my paws quiet. When I spotted the deer like creatures, I ducked into the huge colony of wild berry bushes to hide not only myself, but my scent as well.

Just as I crouched into an attacking position, a group of multicolored wolves rushed out before I could even blink. Each one caught their own antelope and I watched as two in particular decided one wasn't enough. One wolf the color of midnight and the other, the color of the moons rays.
