Aria
"Breathe child, I won't hurt you."
I quickly said as I watched the vocal chords in her throat strain with the need to either scream or growl. When my feminine Irish lilt entered her eardrums, her body immediately relaxed, tension falling away like thawing ice."Ms.Aria? Why are you here?"
Eden asked in a whispered tone, I briefly wondered why she bothered seeing as how we were shifters and had enhanced hearing."I needed to talk with you child, it is of utmost importance. I came to warn you about your father Eden." The sound of footsteps and the scent of rain hit my nostrils, letting me know we would have company soon. Edens face was turned to the door just as mine was, her eyes shining in a glossed state. Ah, that must be the mate I keep hearing about.
Heading to the window from whence I came, I had to hurry up and get my message across. I preferred to speak with Eden alone, with a clear mind on her and her mate being around would put that in jeopardy.
"Eden." Her head nor body turned but I saw her eyes flit onto mine, showing I had her attention.
"Come find me in the small white wood cottage about thirty kilometers south of here. We will speak then, you may bring Mason but your new Alphas must stay far away." I emphasized my point about her mate with a jerk of my head towards the door now opening.

Eden
In between the few seconds it took for Laurent to enter the room and his scent to bust my nose wide open, Aria was gone, the window being slightly ajar being the only proof she was actually here. A dim light flickered on, casting a multicolored glow and I cleared the wandering of my mind to see Laurent staring at me while holding a spotted glass candle lantern. The lighting caused Laurents shadow to flicker back and forth, his caramel skin seeming much more richer and his gold bars eyes were now melted golden coin irises, making my breathing nearly slow to nonexistent. Had it only been two days?
"I didn't expect you to be awake little one, what were you doing?"
His French accent sounded deeper, more pronounced as though he was just plucked from the Guadeloupe islands."Nothing, I just woke up from a much needed nap, haven't slept as well since you left me a couple of days ago. I didn't think you'd be back already, did you find what you were looking for?"
A rasp had taken over my tone, which was still in the grips of oblivion, I wasn't completely awake yet and felt like I was tethering between consciousness and darkness. Quite a disturbing feeling actually. The heavy booted footsteps of Laurent forced me to slowly drag my gaze up from the floor to his face, where for a second, had mistrust laid upon the fine features. Before I could even fix my brain to register the look, it melted to a look so tender, I almost cried.Laurent folded his body to sit on my pallet, with his back against the wall and his exposed knees from his shorts, to brush up against mine. Hot, searing heat flooded my body like always, causing my veins to feel like they were getting ready to just leap from my flesh. My nerves were freaking out, not knowing whether to soak in the feeling or claw their way from it, leaving me a panting and tense mess.
"I missed you." Laurent mumbled right at the base of my throat, his breathing tickling the sensitive skin. I yelped out, caught way off guard. I needed time to prepare for that.
"I-I missed you t-too." I stuttered, so awkward and lost in all my need to be buried beneath this mans weight. His soft chuckle now teased my lips and I came to the agonizingly joyful realization that his pale tinged lips were only inches away from my own rose colored ones.
