4. My Secret

    "So, this is a HUGE secret that we never tell people. Promise you will try not to freak out. Okay?"

    "Okay I promise. But if you're telling me something that would make me freak out, all I can do is try to stay calm."

    "Okay well then try please." I sigh and prepare for him to want to leave and call me a monster. "I'm a vampire. But we don't kill people I promise!" He quickly leans against the door. 

    "You won't hurt me right?! I don't want to die. Don't you drink blood? Do you have powers?"

    "No I will not hurt you. We drink animal blood and yes. But I can prove I won't hurt you." I pull out a small vial. "This is a family recipe of vampire repellant. We use against the vampires that are bad. It's water and herbs but it hurts us." I open it and hold my hand out. "I'll show you." He looks confused and not sure what to think. 

     I let a drop fall on my skin on the top of my wrist and it immediately burns. "Son of a bitch!". His face changes to caring and leans over to look at it concerned.

    "I'm so sorry, I didn't know it would do that or I never would have let you do it. I believe you! Are you okay?"

    "Yes I'm fine it just feels like someone is burning my wrist." I put a special cream on it that heals it but it still leaves a scar. I feel like we are just a normal couple in this moment. Him caring about me getting hurt and me loving him for it. But I don't know what he's thinking about what I just told him.

     "So if you want to leave, go now. I needed to tell you who I really was up front." He looks at me with a surprised look on his face. I don't know why, I would freak out and run away if I was him. 

     "You think I'm gonna leave you just because you're different? I love you no matter what or who you are. Yes it was a shock at first and yes it scared me a little. But we can work through this. I will just have to get used to you."

    "No one can no about me and we have to keep a low profile about us. There are other vampires who would not be happy about me dating a human."

     "Well we will make it work. I don't care if we have to stay inside all the time or in the car. As long as we are together." He leans over and kisses me. 

    We talk for about a half hour and then we decide to go back to my house for dinner. My mom invited him over when I called her. So he gets back in his car and we leave. When we get to the house, my mom is cooking dinner and my brother is playing video games. 

    "Hey mom, do you need help?"

     "Sure. If Ash wants to, he can go play video games with your brother."

    "Ash?"

    "Sure I love video games." Then he goes into the living room and they start playing together.

     "He seems nice honey."

     "Yes he is and that's why I told him about me."

    "You what?!" "Do you know how dangerous that is Luna?!".

    "Yes mom I know. But I feel like I can trust him and I've never felt that about anyone else".  She sighs and let's it go for now knowing that's true.
