Shatter

8. Family Time

  I woke up to my sister sitting on the bed next to me. She looked like she wanted to ask me something but she just smiled at me instead. I looked up at her waiting for her to say something, but she didn't.

    "I'm okay, you don't have to worry about me sis." I smile at her to make her believe me.

    "Okay, but I'm here if you want to talk sis." She smiles back and we go downstairs to join everyone. 

    My mom is making breakfast and my brothers are playing video games. My sister and I help  finish breakfast, then we all sit down to eat. Everyone looks at me like they are waiting for a glass to fall and shatter on the ground. I look down not wanting to look them in the eyes. 

    "So what do you guys want to do first?" My sister asks, breaking the awkward silence.

    "Well the boys want to go fishing and I was thinking you, me and mom could go to the art store. Then we can all go to the gem shop before dinner. And I'm sure Sky and Bay need to go for a walk, there's a lot of woods out back." I keep looking down as I talk, avoiding their eyes.

     After breakfast the boys go down to the docks to fish and my wolves go with them. Me, our mom and my sister go to the art store in town. I walk a little in front of them and I can feel their eyes on me. I try to ignore them and look around the store. They're going to drive me crazy if they keep acting like this. It's not like I'm gonna fall apart the second I'm alone.

    We meet the boys back at the house an hour later. I tell everyone I'm taking Sky and Bay for a walk and go outback to the woods. I look at them as we walk, they look at me and look around. It's getting dark and starting to rain but the moon is out. It's a beautiful night and I feel the freeze wash over me like a calming breath. 

    We walk around until we get to this little open area and we sit down for a while. I sit on a log and they lay on both sides of me. A half hour later we walk back so the others don't worry. They're all sitting in the living room watching a movie. I sit with them and finish the movie. When it's over we all go to bed. Sky and Bay lay with me and we fall asleep.
