Mitali stared at the wall in front of her with high hopes. Going to Hogwarts could save her family from poverty. If Mitali failed, she was failing her family."Come on, go on Mitali. Just go through the wall," Her sister, Siya, explained. Siya was at her fourth year at Hogwarts. Her straight, black hair covered up one of her eyes. Siya's brown eyes were a replica of Mitali's eyes.
"Yeah, I know already," Mitali mumbled. She looked back to her mother. Her mother's eyes were weary. Well, of course they were. She was trying to find a job for ages now. No one accepted her though... Apparently muggles were very picky-Well at least for her mother. Mitali's mother was under so much stress. Mitali wanted help her mother by succeeding in Hogwarts.
Mitali rushed over to her mother, leaving her cart behind. Her mother opened up her arms, and Mitali hugged her.
"Have fun," Her mother whispered. Mitali nodded and walked back to her cart. She grabbed the handles and rushed into the wall. As she reached the other side, she saw her sister not amazed at all. In fact, she looked bored and impatient.
Mitali was amazed though. She was awed. Hundreds of kids rushed around and bid their parents goodbye. Mitali looked over to see her sister chatting away with her friends. She wished her mother was here, but her mother never wanted to be inside the platform because the parents usually talked about magic, and her mother was a muggle.
"Mitali, get into the train! I'm going to go with my friends into our cabin, you can go and make some friends of your own!" Siya yelled as she went away with her friends.
Friends? Mitali didn't want any friends. Better to stay alone before getting close to someone and then grieving when they go away or die.
Mitali went into the train and sat down into an empty cabin. "Phew, nobody is going to sit in this cabin," Mitali whispered to herself.
Mitali then realized she had bad luck. "All the cabins are full, so I guess we'll all have to squeeze in here!" A girl's voice said. Mitali's eyes widened as five people rushed into her cabin. Mitali felt claustrophobic. She really had hoped nobody came into her cabin.
"Sorry about that... I'm Willow, by the way," The girl so named "Willow" introduced herself.
"I'm Mitali," Mitali replied, very silently that people had to lean in to hear her voice. Great. Now she was going to make friends... What a disaster.
The introductions went on. Mitali repeated all the names in her mind, 'Willow Uchiha, Fermin and Name Paix, Mina Cauldwell, and Fiona Carter.' That was a lot of names. Hopefully she doesn't mess it up on the train ride there.
Mitali thought it would be best if she pretended to be zoned out, but actually be listening to their conversation. Nobody would talk to her and they would become friends, leaving her out.
Deep down, Mitali wanted to talk, to play around, say jokes that would make everyone laugh- But that would be leading to friendship, and that was something Mitali didn't want.
It turned out that the people in her cabin were very energetic. They always tried to get her into the conversation, but they failed every time. She just nodded in response to any of their remarks.
Luckily, after about ten minutes of trying to get Mitali to talk to them, the group gave up. They started making their own conversations, without Mitali.
From age seven, Mitali said to herself that she would never make friends. She stayed true to her words, but right now it seemed that she was going against her promise. Mitali liked the group that was in her cabin. She smiled at their jokes, but quickly reminded herself that she was "zoned out", making her smile vanish in a second.
When the others were talking, Mitali wanted to badly make her own statements, especially in some topics.
"Anyway, what houses do you guys want?" Mina asked. Mitali bit her tongue. She wanted to badly say, "Hufflepuff seems like a very good house to me!" The others immediately replied with their favorite house.
As soon as they train came to a stop, Mitali quickly grabbed her luggage and rushed out. Once she reached outside, she took a deep breath of the fresh air. A giant that some people called Hagrid kept telling everyone to "Hurry up!"
Her sister came outside in an intense talk with her friends. Siya walked right past Mitali, ignoring her. She didn't even wave or do anything. Mitali felt a bit betrayed, as her sister had earlier said, "I'll help you along the way."
"Yeah right... Help. More like ignore, " Mitali thought. Mitali carried her luggage and sat down into one of the boats that would take them to Hogwarts. Fiona and Willow joined Mitali and Fermin and Name Paix went on their own boat. Mina had not joined them on the boats as she had been sorted before.
"Come on, now. First years, you will all be sorted out into your houses now," A lady named McGonagall announced. She had explained more things about Hogwarts before that, but Mitali's mind had drifted away.
People were whispering about the arrival of a boy named Albus Potter. Mitali looked at the boy and saw two other people beside him.
"Have you heard all the stories about Harry Potter? I bet his children will be as talented as him," Fiona whispered to Mitali. Mitali tried recall about anything Harry Potter. She had heard he defeated the Dark Lord.
Mitali nodded to Fiona, and so did the rest of the people who were in her cabin. Within the minute, McGonagall finally opened up the doors and the first years rushed in. Mitali was excited, but scared at the same time.
"Time to get sorted!" Fermin exclaimed. Mitali gave a faint smile to join in with all the other smiles.
Mitali hoped that she was in the same house as her new friends that she didn't want to make, but had made. It was too late now.
