Three words changed it all

The ride home

Zach's pov:

I went to the first practice. I went over to meet my team. They all seemed nice so I hung out with them before the coach did his annual speech. I've been on this team for four years. Four years is the most time you can spent on this team( because of the age limit). We go in the same big tournament every year, And we never win it. This year I want it to be different. I want to win it all this year.

I heard the coach yell out to come to the batting cages. I didn't really listen to his speech because I knew what he was going to say. After he did his speech we told everyone our name and something cool about us, like normal. I am the only returning player, so I know the drill. Since I know everyone is new I try to help them with the drills. Except for this one person. She was a girl. I didn't like the idea of having a girl on our team. I didn't like that she played baseball over softball. I didn't like it at all. But I knew we would be playing with each other for over two months so I try to at least talk to her a little bit.

Arielle's pov:

It is now the next practice and I am still in shock of how nice everyone was with having a girl on the team. Usually there is at least one kid who doesn't like it. I could tell something was up with zach yesterday though . He was helping everyone with the drills except for me. I didn't think it was because I am a girl because he talked to me fine afterwards. I ignored it. He probably just had a bad day.

I showed up for practice again and I didn't really pay much attention to zach. Actually I didn't notice him. I was to busy having fun with jace and focusing on baseball. During the middle of our practice it started to rain really hard. It started to thunder and lightning. The coach said practice is over, we can't play in this condition. We were all rushing out of the field, trying to get to our cars. I rushed out with jace, of course, when I realized my mom had dropped me off and she wasn't going to be back until 8:30, when practice was suppose to be over. I told jace that I didn't have a ride until 8:30 he said that's fine you can just ride with us. I said ok and they dropped me off at my house. I said thank you to them and they drove off.
