It's been four days. Four whole days since I've last seen Eli. I know he comes home every night but he sleeps on the couch and all that's left of him in the morning when I wake up is his lingering scent...
I've been starting to feel more depressed lately. The emptiness writhers deep in my bones for the need of my mate. I needed, wanted, craved him. I wanted to touch him. I didn't realize the time spent apart, long or short, would affect me so much. I wonder if this was affecting him as well?
I laid in our bed with his shirt pressed against my chest and nose. I inhaled it deeply and almost moaned. I miss him so much. I've tried to call out to him many times through our mind link but he shuts me out.
I heard a knock on the door but didn't say or do anything. The door opened without my consent and I squeezed my eyes closed.
"Serena do you want to come out to lunch with your sister and I?" Pery asked as she leaned over me.
"No. Not hungry." I said short and simple.
"C'mon, we're getting Italian!" I heard the happiness in her voice.
"I'm not hungry Pery." I replied monotonously.
"Do you want us to bring something back?" She asked stepping back a few steps just in case I freaked out on her. I breathed in deeply so I wouldn't.
"No." I let my breath out.
"Okay." She said softly before turning and walking out the door.
I closed my eyes again waiting for sleep to follow me when I heard my phone buzz next to me on the nightstand. The caller ID read "Jess". Shit!! I forgot she was supposed to be coming! I debated on answering but realized that I couldn't ignore her like he was ignoring me. It wouldn't be right for me to do that. I started to feel bad about the way I've been treating Pery and my sister the past few days.
I picked up the phone before sliding my finger across the screen. "Hey." I said trying to sound bright.
"Gueesssss whaaaat!!" She laughed.
"What's up?" I asked.
"You're supposed to guess, Serena!" She sighed and I imagined her rolling her eyes.
"Ummm I'm going to take a wild guess and say that you just passed Georgia's border lines?" I said sarcastically.
"Nope! We passed the border like two hours ago!" She laughed.
