This Moment (KH/FF)

Chapter 18

"A day after the big explosion at Radiant Garden High, police officials are looking for any evidence that can tie somebody to the terrible incident that was a prelude to the explosion." 

You were currently watching the news in the living room with Kairi and her parents. The strange figure from the smoke still danced around in your mind, making you wonder who or what it was. You sighed as Kairi's parents continued to talk among themselves and turned around to head back up to your bedroom, you were considered an accomplice to blowing up the school with Yuffie, but since it was in self defense the principal let you off easy with a 3 day suspension from school. Once you got to your room, you grabbed your phone that was charging on your nightstand and unlocked to see if there was any messages left for you. You had a few from a couple of the guys but you ignored them and flopped back down into your bed. 

You heard the front door open and a car start, which you assumed was Kairi heading off to school. Grabbing your phone once again, you sent a text to Yuffie to see what she was up to. About five minutes had passed and you hadn't heard back from her so you assumed she was sleeping, which honestly didn't sound like a bad idea to you. Before you knew it, you were drifting off to sleep.

All you could see around you were walls of fire that shined bright in the dark night sky. You were starting to breathe heavily, you weren't sure where you were at but  your best guess was that it might have been a field, as you could see patches of grass around you that the walls of flame had not reached yet. Glancing behind you, you noticed more flames were making their way towards you, which prompted your decision to begin running. You looked down at your body to find yourself in an unfamiliar, long flowy dress, your mind was too scrambled to question why and you kept running. 

"[Name]! [Name]! Please help me!" 

You heard a voice that sounded like Yuffie's and as you got closer your assumption was correct. She was tied to a post in the middle of a circle of short flames. As you reached the circle, the flames flared up to where they were as tall as you were. 

"Oh [Name], [Name], " a  male voice called out, followed by a high-pitched cackle that sounded familiar from the school incident, "If you would've minded your own business, this poor gal over here wouldn't have to be all tied up at the moment."

"Let her go!" You screamed in no particular direction as you could not tell where this strange man was even at. Turning around in circles, you could see no man anywhere  since the flames were concealing him so well. 

"Mhm, let me think..Nope!!" Another cackle filled the night air, "Don't you just love fire, [Name]? So unpredictable and so strong! Tell me, if you had a choice, who would you save? This feisty girl over here or somebody that you have more than a friendship with?"

As the voice completed his sentence, a section of the wall of flame to your left was extinguished  revealing a motionless figure on the ground, as you looked closer you noticed it was [B.O.C]. You could feel your heartbeat  increase as you became more terrified. 

"Or even better, somebody who has been with you your whole life?"  You froze as he said this, hoping it did not mean what you thought it did. As you turned to your right to find another extinguished section of the flame wall, you saw two very familiar people also tied up to a post, the flames were so bright you could make out their features so well. It was your parents. 

"Mom? Dad?" You barely got the words out, you hadn't seen them since you left to live with Kairi, part of you was angry that you never hear from them but the other part was about to breakdown. 

"Oh aren't you a fun plaything! You better start thinking fast who is more important to you!" Another cackle arose and you couldn't take it anymore, falling to the ground in tears, with all the flames around you, you felt so weak. You could do nothing but listen to this psychopath's terrifying cackle, you had to figure something out,"Well, well, guess what? Time's  up!"

"[Name]! [Name]!" You jumped up with a start to find brown eyes right in front of your face,"Jeez, bout time, are you okay? You are like drenched in sweat, it's a little disgusting not gonna lie, but what's going on?"

You sat up and ran a hand through your hair, which was definitely all sweaty and gross. Looking around your room to find comfort in the fact that you were not surrounded by fire, just dirty clothes and schoolbooks. 

"I'm fine, I just had a bad dream. What are you doing here? What time is it?" You said as you started searching for your phone. Yuffie stood up from your bed and handed you your phone that fell onto the carpeted floor. 

"Well, you didn't answer your phone when I tried to call you a couple of times, so I just wanted to check on you. Your aunt and uncle locked the door, so I had to use my lock pick to get in," Yuffie said nonchalantly,"I think it was a good thing too, you were tossing and turning like crazy."

"Well thanks," you said as you got up from your bed,"I'm going to take a quick shower, were you wanting to do something afterward?"

"I want to meet up with some of our friends at lunchtime, and I want to go back to the part of the school that was blown up. I want to snoop around there to see if we can find any clues to who is responsible for this mess, and I don't mean the explosion 'cause obviously that was you," she said with a chuckle as you looked at her while rolling your eyes,"Okay, I know, it was my brilliant plan, but I want to know who called those heartless there. It's too weird."

As you gathered your clothes to change into, your friend continued to talk but you were lost in your own thoughts. Did you really want to go back to the school? Your dream still haunted your mind, images of your friends and parents tied up and surrounded by fire remained. What if that man was still there? Would your dream come true?  

"I guess there's only one way to find out," you mumbled to yourself. 

"What was that [Name]?" Yuffie asked as you just shook your head,

"Oh nothing, just mumbling about homework, my bad. Are we even allowed back at the school, I don't want to get into more trouble than I already am."

"Well you see," the dark haired girl continued,"we are not allowed but that doesn't matter because we are going to do it anyway. I'm assuming good ol'  Vexen is cleaning up the mess but he takes an early lunch so there should be nobody to see us! So hurry your butt up so we can get there in time!"

"Alright, alright, I can't believe I'm going to do this but I hope you have a plan." You sighed as the girl came and put her arm around you,

"[Name], I always have a plan."

Hello everyone! Sorry for the short chapter but I haven't touched this story in like two years. I am so sorry! I need to get back into the swing of things. If you noticed any inconsistencies please let me know! I really don't want to go back and read my story because some of it makes me cringe XD so please just let me know. I want to continue on with this story but I also have had a plan for another kh/ff that's been dancing around in my head for a long time now, it's a bit more of a mature one but I want to start writing it. I don't know how many active followers I have, so please vote and comment, let me know you are out there! :) Hopefully my chapters will start to increase in length but it will probably be a long process but I am so ready to start writing again. I also want to say thanks to anybody that has ever read, voted, or commented on any of my multiple stories I have running around on this website, I appreciate it very much! :)
