Living with a vampire

My eyes flutter open and I am met with a dark house and a soft blanket draped over me. I shove the blanket off and walk upstairs to the bedroom, hoping to find Nik there. I open the door and see the empty bed that is now made up. I sigh and lay down on top of the bed. My self reminiscing is over and now I'm just scared. Vampires kill and use so...what if Klaus was using me? Okay, no more reminiscing!

I toss and turn in the bed for what seems like hours. I can't sleep alone. Before, when I was single, I would be afraid and cling onto my pillows. But ever since I found Nik I haven't ever had to sleep alone.

I get out of the bed and walk out of the room, down the hall, and stop at his office door. How in the world am I going to ask him to come to bed with me because I'm too scared to sleep alone. I'm just about to walk away, when the door opens.

"You're awake, but it's midnight," he says.

I drag a nervous hand through my black hair and breath in, then exhale.

"I want-I need- I mean I...um," I chuckle nervously, "uh, nevermind, I just forgot," I start to walk away, but he stops me by grabbing my arm.

I flinch, but relax immediately.

"I never intended you to be afraid of me," he says, "I just wanted to be with you."

He let's go of my arm.

"what did you want to ask me," he asks.

I blush, "I'm...scared. Being in that room alone is...giving me the creeps," I admit.

He wraps his arms around me and I melt against him.

"I thought vampires were supposed to be cold," I say, "but you're warm."

He chuckles, "I'm not a normal vampire, remember?"

"Right, you're an original vampire," I smile, "and the big bad wolf."

He laughs. "Come on, let's get you to bed," he says and disconnects our hug to take my hand.

When we get to the bedroom, I lay on the bed and he wraps his arms around me from behind. I nuzzle my back further into his chest and close my eyes.

He kisses my neck softly and whispers "I love you so much," in my ear.

"I love you too," I say and smile.

He presses his lips against my neck and I feel him smile, which makes me happy.

I drift off into a soundless sleep with nothing but Klaus and my happy dreams.

IN THE AFTERNOON

I groan and roll onto my stomach.

"Come on, it's time to wake up," Klaus yells and the curtains shoot open.

"Nik," I whine.

He turns around and his smile fades. He kneels down next to the bed.

"What's wrong," he asks worriedly.

"I feel ill," I say and put a dramatic hand to my forehead.

I takes my hand away and replaces it with his own. "You're just fine," he says, "now, get up, we have a long day ahead of us."

I pout. I can't believe he saw right through me. "Well, what are we doing today," I ask.

"I was thinking about moving to New Orleans, what do you think," he asks.

"Why are we moving to New Orleans, that is, if I say yes," I ask.

"The scenery," he says.

He does this think with his lips that tells me he's lying.
