"Wake up love," I hear someone say in my ear.

I know it's Nik and that makes me smile. I open my eyes and see his face right in front of mine, a smile dancing across his lips.

"Have I been asleep long," I ask, stretching my arm to reach up to the other side of his neck.

"No, I've just woken up," he says, "but we can't stay on the couch naked forever."

"Aw, why not," I say, closing my eyes again.

He chuckles, "because I want to take you out today," he says.

"Okay," I open my eyes.

I forgot all about the sheets from my old bed were left on the couch, now they're draped over our bodies.

I pull one of them over my chest and attempt to get off of the couch, but my legs are asleep so I fall back down.

"I can't get up," I say and snuggle back up to him, my eyes level with his.

He chuckles and pecks my lips, "you're so lazy," he says.

"But my feet are asleep," I whine.

He pecks my lips again and again and I giggle.

"Come, we can go upstairs together," he says.

"Can you carry me," I ask.

"Sure," he smiles.

He sits up and wraps the sheet around his waist, I sit up too and wrap the sheet around my chest securely.

He gets up and picks me up, throwing me over his shoulder. I yell, thinking he would carry me like a little bride all the way up the stairs.

He walks up the stairs and into the bedroom. He throws me on the bed and I laugh.

His phone beeps and he checks it.

His expression changes from happy to angry.

"What's wrong," I ask, getting on my knees.

"I have to leave," he says and sets the phone down.

"Where are you going," I ask, hugging the column attached to the bed .

"To New Orleans," he says.

"But why," I ask.

"For business, it's important," he says and starts to get dressed.

"Well, how long will you be gone," I ask.

"Two days the latest," he says, pulling on his shirt.

"But doesn't it take a while to get there," I ask, moving to the next column as he moves to the other side of the room.

"Yes, but...it's complicated," he says.

"You've never even told me what you do Nik," I say.

"Okay, no more questions," he snaps.

I sit down on the bed, a little sad that he snapped at me like that. He hasn't done that in a while. Last time he snapped was when I kept asking him questions.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap," he says and takes my face in his hands, "just know that this is important and I promise I'll be back as soon as possible."

"Okay," I say softly.

He kisses my lips long and passionately and pulls away.

"Don't open the door for anyone you don't know," he says.

I nod and smile.

"And don't talk to strangers," he says lastly, making me laugh.

He leaves the room. I listen and hear the front door close a couple seconds later.
