I roll onto my back, then my stomach, then my back, and then I fall farther down to my face on the hard wood floor.
I groan and whimper.
I hear a whoosh and a hand is helping me turn around on my back on something soft.
"Are you okay," Nik's voice asks me.
"I don't know, am I dead," I ask, "are we dead. Someone knocked me out after I put that brownie in my mouth. I think it was Rebekah, oh my god, Rebekah killed me. Where am I, the ghost world, it's so dark," I say, the words escaping my mouth in a breath.
He laughs, "are you still high," he asks.
"Nik, I can't see anything, I don't that's what getting high is like, and when did I get high?"
"Maybe you should open your eyes," he says.
I do as he says and then feel like the dumbest person ever.
I sit up and drag a hand through my hair.
"Why am I in just my underwear," I ask.
"You just took off your clothes and got into bed, I wasn't complaining," he says.
I use the column in the bed to help myself up.
"I feel sick," I say.
He puts an arm around my waist and helps me up. He helps me into the bathroom and I kneel down in front of the toilet. My stomach churns and then something starts coming up and out of my mouth.
When I'm done, I quickly brush my teeth and rinse my mouth out about ten times. I turn around and see Nik right in front of me.
He tucks a strand of loose hair from my face behind my ear.
"I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you," he says.
"You did tell me not to talk to strangers," I say.
My voice sounds tired and worn out. Well I did just wake up.
"That's why you shouldn't listen to Rebekah," he says.
I start to feel something coming up again and push past him to the toilet. I puke again and repeat the earning process of my mouth.
I put on gray shorts and a white t-shirt and lay back in bed.
He lays down next to me and pushes the hair out of my face.
"This is all my fault," I say.
"No it's not, it mine," he says.
"It's not your fault," he says.
"You're right, it's Rebekah's fault, I'll deal with her later," he says, "but I need you to stay in bed, I don't think it's just the drugs."
I nod. "So how was I, when I was high I mean," I ask.
"You would not stop talking, I was surprised when you actually fell asleep. I secretly wanted to video tape the whole thing," he says.
I giggle softly and clutch his shirt, "I'm so embarrassed," I say,"what was in the brownies?"
"Weed, apparently the college kids next door were trying to get you high so they could try something," he says, "but don't worry, I'll deal with it."
"Did you hurt them Nik, I aware if did-"
"I didn't hurt anyone," he says, "I just compelled then to do whatever you say and to never touch you."
I smile, "You're always taking care of me," I say.
"I know," he says and smooths back my hair, then he chuckles, "I actually have them cleaning the house right now."
