I hear a muffled voice that sounds so distant, but as time goes by the voice becomes clearer and clearer. I hear my name, Florence Greene, then I hear that it's a man's voice. He sounds like he's trying to get me to pay attention, like a child watching tv when he should be doing homework.

"Florence, I need you to open your eyes, keep them open for me," he says.

"I-I can't," I say. I sound tired and worn.

Images start to flash in my mind. Blood and sweat on my face, wounds on my body, my hair a mess, my clothes ripped, my mouth dry, my eyes closing, my heartbeat picking up its pace and then stopping all together.

"Florence, wake up! 100 CCs, stat," the man says. He has a green doctors outfit on with a white lab coat and gloves. There are lots of doctors scrambling around and I'm just laying on the bed in the middle of the room...dying.

I'm dying...why? What happened to me? Where is Nik? Everything happens in slow motion now and then I wake up, like I normally do. It wasn't a pleasant dream or a nightmare. I didn't wake up smiling or dramaticllay gasping for air. I just open my eyes, blinded by the morning sun.

I turn around and see Nik sleeping next to me. I smile slightly and get out of bed. Nik is always waking up before me so this is a good change. I go into the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. I comb my hair and let my soft black hair fall down my back.

I go back into the bedroom and lay back down next to Nik. Put a hand on his chest and lay my head on his chest also. He wraps his arms around me; I guess it must be a reflex by now.

"Nik," I say, just to make sure he's awake or not.

"Yes love," he answers, his voice worn with sleep.

I nuzzle my nose in his chest, "I had a really weird dream," I say.

"What was it about," he asks.

Even though his eyes are closed and he may be half asleep, I know he's listening.

"I was in the hospital...dying. The doctors were doing their thing and I was just dying," I say.

"That's terrible, was anyone else there," he asks.

"No, just the doctors and me," I say.

"Not even me?"

"No," I say.

"Where was I," he asks.

"I don't know, you just weren't there," I say.

"I won't let you die," he says and squeezes me tight.

"I'm not worried about dying Nik," I say.

"Then what are you afraid of," he asks.

"Being alone."

"You will never be alone, as long as I'm around and well," he says.

"Enough about my silly dream , when does Rebekah come," I ask.

"Whenever she feels like it I guess," he says.

"I hope she comes soon," I say.

"I hope she never gets here."

I open my eyes and look up at him. Why does he hate his family so much? I want to ask him that but I'm afraid he'll get angry with me.

"I'm hungry," I say, my stomach caving in.

He opens his eyes and kisses the top of my head, "alright, let's go," he says and we both get out of bed.

We make out way downstairs and into the kitchen. I sit down on on the stool and he goes to the fridge. He opens it but closes it almost immediately.
