As soon as I open my eyes, I look at the clock and see that it's 6:45. I look over at Florence and see her sleeping soundlessly next to me. I smile and kiss her cheek. I get out of bed, careful not to wake her. I put on a pair of black jeans, black shirt, and black shoes. I leave the room and jog downstairs. I grab my coat off the rack and am about to leave when I hear her annoying voice.
"Niklaus, where are you going," Rebekah asks from the stairs.
"None of your business," I say and turn around to face her.
"You're going to leave her without saying goodbye," she asks.
"I won't be gone long," I say and try to go back to the door.
"You should at least tell her everything instead of keeping her in the dark," she says and I turn back around.
"I'd rather spare her the gorey details," I say.
"Oh please, you're a monster Nik you should at least tell her that!"
"Keep your voice down, she's sleeping," I say as calmly as I can, "while I'm away I don't want you speaking to her. I'll be back later at 7 or 8 and I don't want you damaging her any more than you already have."
"Fine," she says.
I open the door and wait for her to say anything else. When she doesn't I leave the house and make my way to The witches's hideout.
I get stopped at the archway and push at the stupid magical barrier that stops any vampire from going onto anyone's property.
One of the witches comes out and smirks at me.
"Let me in and I won't kill everyone you care about," I threaten.
She sighs, "come in."
The barrier releases and I step in freely.
"What do you want, more witches? None of us are as powerful as Davina," she says.
I chuckle humorlessly, "you don't quite get it, do you? I'm collecting witches to stop her all together. I thought you'd be on board since she's the one telling Marcel about the witches who are doing magic in this town," I say and pick up a stray stick.
She shifts uncomfortably, "and why do you want her stopped," she asks.
"That's my business...witch," I say. "If you don't cooperate I will grant you the worst death imaginable."
"It doesn't look like I have much of choice, does it?"
"No, you don't," I drop the stick, "tell your witchy friends as well, I don't like to repeat myself," I say and leave.
I go to Marcel's little lair and stop in front of him feeding off of some human girl. I clear my throat and he drops her.
"What's up," he asks.
I move the girl with my foot to check for any movement.
"I want you to keep your vampires away from my home Marcel," I say, "I've already had to kill 15 of them."
"Impressive, has Florence said anything about them," he asks, "she's a sweet girl."
"She doesn't know," I say, "and I'd like to keep it that way."
"I'm surprised at you old friend. After all these years of draining women dry, you've finally found one who's blood you haven't even tasted," he says.
"I'd rather not drain the woman I love dry, surely you can understand that," I say and am about to leave until he grabs my arm.
I feel the urge to just rip him to pieces, but I restrain myself with the fact that he's my friend and I have raised him.
