"I believe this conversation is overdue" said Amina to Dr. Mwanza the following morning sitting opposite the woman in her office.
She was starting off for Kitwe in a few hours and she thought it was time Dr. Mwanza held up the rest of her side of their bargain."I've been waiting for an update on my position in UAWAC"
"Yes I'm processing your membership as we speak" said Dr. Mwanza
Amina raised her brow "The deal was a position not membership"
"I can't give you a position without the public finding out, it's simply too risky" protested Dr. Mwanza
"Aunt Lois you're a smart woman, I'm sure by the time I return from Kitwe you would have found a way for me to have that position or believe me I won't step a foot in Nigeria even if it means I have to become a whore here in Zambia" said Amina coldly. She could play this game too because she'd left her innocence somewhere in Sudan.
"Yes, by the time you return your position will be ready" said Dr. Mwanza through gritted teeth and a frown.
"Good, in the meantime I'd like a weekly update of the campaign's activities, I'm sure you already have my email address" said Amina
"And I'd like you to take your training very seriously and complete it on time" said Dr. Mwanza trying hard to hide her annoyance
"Of course" said Amina standing up and putting an end to their meeting "It was a pleasure."
As soon as Amina closed the door behind her, Aunt Lois couldn't help not letting out her rage. She flung Amina's dossier, which she had been holding, from across the desk as if she wanted the contents to go out of the window.
"Arrgh!!!" She exclaimed; "see what the world has done to this girl. God help me to help her."
Around noon Amina and Salma started off for the training camp. The journey to Kitwe only lasted about forty five minutes and so by that afternoon the vehicle they were in was driving up a dirt road to the secret location of the training camp. They had stopped in the town centre to refuel and then proceeded to the camp. The town had been relatively developed with many modern buildings but as they drove further out and left the main roads the buildings turned into rubble and then bushes. As they went further into the bush Amina thought of her father and the conversation they had before she left.
"So you're not coming with me" Amina had said in disappointment as soon as her father told her he was staying in Ndola.
"No, my dear I've got work to do here. I've been assigned another mission" he explained to which Amina gave a sigh. She was worried that she might never see him again especially considering all that had happened since the last time she said goodbye to him.
"Don't worry I'll be here when you get back. I know you don't trust these people but they're all we've got"
"I thought about Mama last night. She's all alone, with you presumed dead, me lost and Isah obviously very busy" Amina said.
"I heard she is now living with your grandmother in our house in Abuja" her father replied.
"Do you think we'll ever be together again as a family?" asked Amina close to tears
"Maybe one day" said her father
"I'm going to miss you Baba"
"I'll miss you too my dear but don't be sad, it's only three months you'll be back before you know it"
"Then I'll be off to Nigeria"
"We'll both be off to Nigeria"
"You promise?"
