Isah paced outside of his sister's hotel room with his phone to his ear. The majority of the votes had gone Amina's way and she was now a free woman, well, as free as the president's wife could be. Amina was in the hotel room with a makeup artist and stylist who were preparing her for the party that was being held at the Villa in honour of her return. Isah had followed her to the hotel because he needed to speak to her before she left for the Villa but not before calling Salma. He had heard that there were riots in Rigasa and had been trying Salma's phone for past 10 minutes only for it to ring with no answer. He feared she had somehow been caught up in the riots and gotten arrested or worse hurt.
"Hello" she finally answered
"Where are you? Are you okay? I'm coming to get you" Isah said rapidly
"Calm down, I'm fine. I just got home" said Salma
He sighed in relief "I was worried about you I heard there were riots in Rigasa"
"I saw it when I was on the bus. Isah, it was amazing how the people of Rigasa stood up for Amina" gushed Salma "I got some of it on video I can send it to you"
"I was instructed to make sure the rest of the country doesn't catch wind of the riots" said Isah
"Then maybe I should accidently and anonymously post the video online" said Salma immediately reading Isah's mind
"Maybe you should. I've got some good news for you" said Isah "The panel voted in favour of Amina"
"That's great" squealed Salma "I wish I could talk to her"
"I know. You'll be able to speak to her soon but for the time being it's too risky" said Isah "How's mama?"
"I don't know I'm still outside in the compound"
"Good luck"
Salma chuckled "Thanks, I'm going to need it"
"Salma?"
"Yes"
"Take care of yourself"
After speaking to Salma, Isah felt like he could finally breathe and now that he knew she was safe he could talk to Amina.
"Are they done?" Isah asked Amina's new body guard who was stationed at the door.
********
The president had ordered for security to be beefed up and that included a personal body guard for Amina. Isah had taken the opportunity to recruit one of the UN's spies to fill the position. The guy's name was Mohammed, he was tall, light skinned and about a year or so younger than Isah.
********
"I'll check" said Mohammed before pocking his head into the room. Immediately after that two women walked out of the room chatting to themselves no doubt gossiping about the president's wife.
Isah tapped on Amina's door before letting himself in. She was seated on the bed looking beautiful in her African lace dress.
"I didn't get the chance to thank you earlier" she said
"There's no need" said Isah "You look nice"
Amina nodded in agreement.
"Your body guard is one of us" said Isah getting straight to the point "If you need to communicate he can provide you with a phone and basically anything else you might need. I'll be in touch and keep you updated through him. Our first order of business is to get rid of the minister of defence, when you get the opportunity you need to tell the president how badly he treated you while you were being questioned."
