Chapter Four

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Author’s Note: Hey guys, sorry for the short chapter, but I didn’t want to jump into any action too soon. I promise the next chapter will be better! ~Lucky_Number_13)
The majestic doors slid shut behind me, and I trailed silently behind Luna’s heels. The Holy War…Lucifer…Ordinaries… It was all too much to take in at one time. Noticing my unusual silence, Luna turned back with a concerned face.
“Why are you so quiet? Is all of that information overworking your puny brain?” Luna remarked. Maybe her look of concern was more so contempt.
“Why do you hate me so much?” I honestly questioned, hoping my eyes were big enough to make her feel guilty. Luna’s eyes softened, then hardened once again.
“I don’t hate you, I just think you’re a burden.” And with that she turned around and continued to lead me through the golden corridors. I let out a sigh, and reluctantly followed.
“Luna?” I said. She grunted in reply. “What happens if all the Guardians die out? Does the Holy War end and Lucifer becomes victorious?”
Luna stopped in her tracks. She turned around, a look of frustration on her face. “The Guardians won’t die out, because we do not only find Ordinaries and fight the Dark Angels, but we also search for Grace along the way. Though God may be all loving and all powerful, he still wanted to provide a challenge for the Guardians, a stupid challenge at that. But we must collect the Grace before Lucifer does, for he destroys any piece he can get his hands on, to prevent new Guardians to come into existence.
“Anyway, your room is two doors away from mine, so if you need help, don’t come to me,” Luna informed me over her shoulder. I nodded, then stopped with an abrupt halt.
“Wait, I’m living here?” I asked with surprise. Luna turned back, her eyes somewhat wide.
“Yes, did you not know? Like Gabriel said, there are consequences to my revealing to you. One of them is giving up your normal life in order to fight for the Guardians.” Luna said.
I dropped my eyes at a loss for words.
Luna pointed out a room. “That’s your room, and two rooms to the left is my room. I think you can find your way from here.” Luna turned and left. I slowly made my way to the room, taking in my surroundings. I still could not believe I was here, in the Sanctuary. A voice behind me caused me to turn around.
“Well, hello there,” a tall angel greeted me in a deep voice. He looked athletic, and had a friendly smile.
“Hi,” I replied, a smile across my face. It was nice to know that not all angels acted like Luna. “My name’s Leena, and you are?
“Paschar, but everyone here calls me Pas.” He said, his smile unwavering. “So Leena, your Guardian is…?”
“Luna,” I answered quickly, a bit too quickly. I repeated it less excitedly, “Luna.”
A hearty laugh escaped from his lips, and he said, “Ah, you’re stuck with Luna, huh? Well, don’t worry, Luna can be nice when she wants to, which isn’t very often.” Another bellowing laugh. “Well, I’m glad that you have joined the Guardians, Leena. Has Gabriel assigned you a mission yet?”
“No, not yet,” I replied.
“Well, I do look forward to fighting alongside you on the battlefield. And terribly sorry, but I must bid you farewell. Until our next meeting, Leena,” Pas waved, and went on his way down the corridor. I smiled, then turned to the door of my room. Taking a deep breath, I turned the golden handle and was welcomed by a luxurious suite, filled with cushions galore. I launched myself into the plush bed and said, “I think I’m going to like this place.”
