Chapter Five

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But I spoke too soon. Just as I was getting comfortable in my cloud of a bed, Luna burst into my room.
“Why are you lying around? Gabriel is calling us!” Luna exclaimed.
“But we just lef—” Luna didn’t allow me to finish my sentence. She yanked me out of bed and literally dragged me to Gabriel’s room. Luna slammed her weight against the golden doors and hauled me into the room.
“Ah, Leena, Luna, you’re here. Word has just reached the Sanctuary that a Guardian has perished nearby the coast of Singapore. You must save the Ordinary there before the Dark Angels infect her soul and he or she becomes a part of Lucifer’s army. Quickly!” Gabriel informed me.
Luna quickly nodded, grabbed my arm, and we took to the skies. The roof overhead seemed to evaporate, and we soared through the skies once again.
Once my feet touched the blessed Earth, I found myself surrounded by trees, birds, and other exotic animals. A feeling of serenity swept over me, immediately interrupted by a crash ahead.
“Hurry,” Luna called over her shoulder as she sped ahead to the source of the crash. I leapt to my feet and ran after her, only to see the most horrifying creature in my entire life. An angel, undoubtedly, stood before me, but it was unlike I have ever soon nor heard in years past. Its wings bony and as black as midnight, its body literally resembling a skeleton. It turned, and its face blew me away. It resembled an angel, but its complexion had a hint of gray. Scars from battle lined its face, and its eyes were little black beads. It looked straight at me and Luna, and a grin filled with sharp shiny white teeth formed.
“Well, well, well. Welcome to our little party, Guardians. Care to play?” The Dark Angel said mockingly.
Luna unsheathed her sword and lunged at the beast with a grunt. Her eyes glinted with adrenaline, while I helplessly stood in the shadows of the trees. Leaves rustled behind me, and I turned to see Pas’s wide smile.
“Well, isn’t this a pleasant way to begin our second encounter. Well, no time to chat,” Pas glanced at the battle, strung a golden arrow onto a bow, and let it go. The arrow whistled through the air, striking the Dark Angel in its leg. A scream of pain erupted throughout the woods. Taking advantage of the Dark Angel’s distraction, Luna turned towards Pas and me.
Luna smirked and said, “Took ya long enough.”
“Terribly sorry,” Pas laughed, “So why don’t I give you the honor of vanquishing this Angel?”
“The pleasure is all mine,” Luna stated sarcastically, and brought down her sword on the Angel. With a final yelp, the Dark Angel burst in a flurry of black ash.
I let out a victorious whoop, pumping my fist into the air. “We won!”
“We may have one the battle, but not the war,” Luna informed me as she was wiping down her sword. “There are more Dark Angels, more than we can handle alone.”
