Harry was calling me, his voice soft in the distance yet crystal clear. I was walking through the bright orange leaves which seemed to have a sparkle to them due to tiny raindrops which had gathered on them. For some strange reason I was wearing a long white dress which was flowing along behind me as I trudged through gracefully. He was still calling me, his voice hypnotising me and making me go further into the woods. The light shone through the tree branches above, turning the very few leaves into glowing lanterns.
I reached an opening to a light blue lake, the sun hitting of it's surface and sending bright beams of light into my eyes. I squinted and covered my face with my hands, when I pulled them away a tall silhouette stood by the edge of the water, staring out as far as the eye could see. Cautiously, I stepped out further, my feet surprisingly sinking into sand which seeped between my toes. The figure was still standing there and as I got closer, noticing a chestnut mop of hair, complete with a black tux. He turned to face me, his jade-green eyes holding me...
"Kristen?" he whispered, stroking the side of me face gently.
I groaned and slowly opened my eyes, his green iris' meeting mine. He smiled and kissed my forehead, perching himself on the edge of the bed.
It took me a while to get used to my surroundings, everything was a blur.
"Harry...what's going on?" I asked, my voice croaky.
"Your in hospital...your head," he said, not wanting to tell me exactly. Not yet.
I blinked and tried to sit up, wincing at the sharp pain and holding my head.
He pulled me back, my horrible gown totally flattering me. I noticed a white band around my wrist with my name on it, making me feel like I was labeled.
"There's no rush."
I looked around the room, luckily it was private. There was a jug of water on the plain bedside table, making me realise how thirsty I was. I reached out my hand to grab it, nearly making it fall to the ground as I was so shaky. Harry caught it just in time and poured me a cup, handing it to me carefully.
"I can't do anything," I grumbled.
He laughed softly and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, kissing the end of my nose.
"You've just woke up, you can't expect to be completely normal right away," he whispered.
I gently rubbed the back of my head, feeling a small bald patch and rough strands of thread.
"My hair..." I whimpered, close to tears.
"You can hardly notice it, it's the tiniest wee patch," he said reassuringly.
"Did I get stitches?" I asked.
He nodded and I felt sick, just the thought of it made my stomach churn. It all came back to me suddenly, dad hitting me, my head banging against the wooden floor, Harry finding me...
It was like a rush of flashbacks all at once, making me feel dizzy. I rubbed my temple, sipping the water which tasted of antiseptic and medicine.
"Yuck," I moaned, sitting the cup back on the dresser.
"They found him," he said.
It took me a while to process what he just said, but it made me feel slightly safer.
"Okay...so now what?" I asked, nodding as if it was something positive.
I guess it was. But I knew it would make him hate me even more, meaning he would come back. He always comes back.
"You get better," he grinned.
Seeing him smile made me relax a little, even though I was pretty shaken up. A nurse came in to check on me, smiling sweetly as she sat a menu for lunch on the pull out table at the end of the bed.
"I'm not hungry," I said, smiling back and trying to hand her the menus back.
"You have to eat darling," she sighed, insisting I keep it in case I change my mind.
"Don't worry, I'll bring some food over later," he said, making a disgusted face at the list of hospital food.
I laughed, making his eyes soften as he leaned in to kiss me, "it's good to see you smiling."
His lips tasted of mint, covering the faint whiff of medicine in the back of my throat. I pulled him closer until he was straddling me, the pain in the back of my head disappearing as I concentrated on how my lips were moving against his...
