Summary
His agility, his height, his withdrawn demeanour. He keeps secrets, but the deepest secret of all is the one no one suspects. He is a she.
That was a lame summary. I just made it up on the spot. I wrote the first part of a scene for this, but deleted it. I'll try to recreate it for you. :)
Chapter 1
I stand in my bathroom in front of the mirror. If I turn my head just right, I can see it. The eyelashes, the cheekbones, the signs that I'm who no one thinks I am. My hair is getting a little too long, so I decide I need to cut it back into the obviously male haircut. I lift the scissors to my hair. I remember when I was very young, it was long. Then my uncle made me cut it and dress like a boy. The last time I wore a skirt was when I was four. My uncle's reasoning was that women were taken advantage of too often. He wanted to protect me from that, so he also taught me to defend myself.
For the longest time after he left I was the only one who knew my secret. I stared at my face in the mirror and never could see how is was what I wasn't. Then I met a boy named Farlan. We started working together as criminals. It was inevitable. He didn't believe me at first, but he knew me and knew I wouldn't joke about it. He was shocked and looked at me weirdly for two weeks until I punched him and told him I wasn't any different. I said he could think of me as a boy or girl, whichever he wanted. Then everything went back to normal.
When Isabel showed up, she didn't find out for half a year. She stared at me for a few minutes after I told her, but then shrugged and started telling Farlan and I about the food she'd stolen that day.
I'm giving up. This can't be a first scene. It would make a terrible first scene. I'll just have Levi/Leviette act like she's telling you about her life.
Hanji suspected Petra and I had some kind of relationship, but the truth is that she was just my best friend. She knew my secret. I was extremely saddened when she died.
I've perfected deepening my voice all the time, and I don't think it's even possible anymore for me to speak with a high voice.
There we go. Backstory and extra random facts. There's a reason I deleted this draft, but I thought I'd share my very original thoughts with you all. This is probably the weirdest one here so far. Except maybe Believable, Eyes Opened, Not Your Average Psychologist, or Dragon Slare. Which of these do you think is the weirdest? Which is your favorite? Which would you most like to see turned into a book (not actually saying I will though).
