Don't judge my cover. I call it artistic weirdness. And somewhat bad editing.

Summary

Lacie Genera's life is all smiles- literally. She smiles; everyone around her smiles. Everyone wears a necklace with a charm unique to them that monitors their health and behavior patterns. It works perfectly for everyone.

But Lacie is Faulty. No one has been Faulty since that Pretter boy around ten years ago, and no one has seen him since.

Lacie needs to hide her Fault, but can she smile when there is absolutely nothing to smile about?

ONE

I walk around smiling and seeing everyone smiling. It's a natural thing to see here in Jade. In other places, people frown. It's because they're unhealthy and not feeling right. Everyone in Jade smiles because we're healthy. If we weren't, we'd be treated almost immediately. When someone doesn't smile, others try to help. Along with medicine and treatment, the smiles of others help them to smile again.

When someone smiles, you smile back. When someone doesn't, they're sick. If they don't smile and they're not sick, the only other explanation is that they're Faulty.

I am Faulty.

I force a smile to everyone.
