It's a Family Thing

Heads up I use worrier instead of warrior in a few places so please ignore that. I to lazy to fix it.

(Kumiko POV)

The fight between the earthlings and the saibamen began. The namekian and short bald one rushed and fought as the child looked frightened and like he didn't know what to do. I face-palmed at his stupidity. A saiyen child would be a strong warrior by this point but this brat was nothing. How pathetic. At one point a saibamen did attack him but the kid just stood there looked afraid and took the hit. I shook my head. This was no fun at all. I thought these guys were gonna give us a real fight but they couldn't even handle a few saibamen. The nemekien stepped in and protected the child before the saibamen could attack while the child was down.

"Gohan, don't louse your nerve." He scolded.

"Right." The boy weakly answered.

A thought occurred to me then. Gohan? Wasn't that Kakarot's... I was by the child's side in a second. The nemekien turned quickly and fear flashed in his face.

"Gohan!" He yelled out. "Move!"

The boy seemed frozen despite the words from his comrade. He cowered looking terrified but i just looked at him with a soft confused look.(Think Goku whenever he asks a question. Cute, like a puppy.)

"Your name is Gohan?" I questioned. The boy looked confused but nodded his head. The others might of said something but I was focused on the little kid in front of me who might just be my nephew. I smiled a bit and held my hand out. The bo-Gohan flinched back but opened his eyes when pain didn't come. "Hello Gohan. Let me introduce myself properly. My name is Kumiko, I'm your father's big sister so that makes me your aunt." Gohan slowly looked at my hand unsure before reaching out and shaking it. "Hi" he said quietly.

The others around us had stopped and we now lookin at us in fear/worry(Earthlings) and annoyance.(Vegeta). Nappa just looked confused. I picked Gohan up and carried him back to Vegeta and Nappa. Vegeta gave me a 'really?' look. To which I responded with a big smile. Gohan struggled in my grasp and his comrades protested loudly to my taking of him but didn't move to stop me. 

"Kumiko, what are you doing with that child?" Vegeta raised an eyebrow clearly annoyed with my actions.

"Oh, come on Vegeta." I wined. Pouting at the prince. "He's family, and I don't want either of you laying a hand on him." I ended my rant strongly as if daring the two males to challenge me. Vegeta scoffed and Nappa just looked the other way. I smiled victoriously and walked a little ways away from the fight, sitting on a rock and holding Gohan in my arms.

(Short Vegeta POV) Surprise!

I watch as Kumiko walked off with brat before sitting down a little ways away so not to get in the way. I swear she can be the most annoying creature sometimes. The human and Nemekein looked at the child wearily. I rolled my eyes and Nappa spoke up.

"You won't have to worry 'bout the brat. Kumi won't hurt him. She's got this whole thing about family." Slowly the two of them relaxed but still stayed alert. For good reason. I smirked. Now that the child and woman were gone, the real fighting could start.

(Kumiko POV)

I sat with Gohan as the others fought. More earthlings showed up. Vegeta made up a little tournament. I guy got blown up. A kid? No idea what that was, blew itself up. Nappa cut a guy's arm off. That guy died. And they we were left with those same two we started with again. Gohan cried and hid in my hair. I stroked his back as he sobbed. I tried to comfort him but i was a worrier not a mother.
