Veronica went swimming often, but rarely with her brother. She looked over at Cade who in return smiled at her. They had been swimming underwater for over 2 minutes now. As she emerged to the surface a wave splashed down upon her. Cade, however, came up a little while after, avoiding the wave. Veronica decided he needed a splash, so she moved her hands through the water sending it straight to his face.

"Oh, you did not!" Cade was chuckling.

"I just did." Veronica turned her head sideways and smiled. Cade raises his eyebrows and attempted to splashed  her, but she anticipated this and ducked underwater. Now they were past the breakers.

"We should go. It is almost midnight." Cade was looking at his watch, treading water. Veronica didn't want to leave. She enjoyed the ocean too much and besides she hadn't swam with her friends yet. She swam just a little further. There they were. The sharks. Every night she came out here to swim with them. The sharks greeted her. She climbed on the back of one. Riding a shark was different than riding a whale or dolphin. Less gentle, faster and not as careful. Veronica made sure to do this at night. That way nobody would notice. Veronica didn't want to be on the news and become famous. It might destroy some relations and bring upon new ones she did not want.

"Veronica, we have to go. A boat is coming this way." Cade was waving his hands in the air.

Veronica sighed. "Bye, sharks." She dived into the water and her and her brother swam ashore.

Daisy couldn't stop thinking about how she almost drowned. She could have died at the age of 9. Her mom had gone into "crazy worry" mode, but she couldn't blame her. Dad had died last week. What time is it? Daisy rolled over to the left side of her bed. 5 minutes til midnight. She couldn't sleep.
