Waking up was a pain in the ass, I laid there slightly puzzled, I looked over at my alarm clock, it was 6:30 in the morning, I was just about to scramble out of bed when I remembered that it was the weekend and the beginning of the summer holidays, I yawned and stretched, rolling over onto my side I caught the same scent as the last time I got a visit in my dreams, woods, wild flower and that sweet smell I still couldn’t recognise, it made me remember what had happened the night before with my parents, that’s when I remembered what they’d said about my uncle coming to stay, throwing the covers off me I made my way downstairs and into the kitchen to get something to eat and see if anyone was up yet.

My mum was stood at the cooker making breakfast, omelettes and bacon, nothing better to wake up to on a weekend, walking over I gave my mum a hug from behind to say good morning and went and sat down at the kitchen table and waited for her to finish cooking.

Dad trotted into the room just after mum had finished making breakfast

“Morning Tay, did you sleep alright last night?” dad asked, I knew what he wanted to know, if I’d woken up while they where in my room or not

“yeah I slept fine, could have sworn I heard someone come in my room last night but it might have been a dream” I said, testing the water to see if he would tell me what was going on or not

“that might have been your mum checking on you, you know she still treats you like your 7” dad chuckled nervously as he sat down across from me

“I did check on you last night honey, sounded like you where talking to someone so I was just checking to see if you’d snuck a girl into your room without me knowing, but it seemed you where talking in your sleep again, you say the weirdest things in your sleep, something about pinching yourself and it hurting” my mum was laughing when she said it

“Is that all you heard me say? I mean, was I just talking randomly or was it like I was having a full conversation with someone?” I wanted to know how much of my conversation, with the voice that visit’s my dreams, she’d heard

“Well that’s all I heard, but you may have been since I heard you when I was coming up the stairs, I couldn’t make out what you where saying though” she said as she set a plate each in front of me and dad

“Ok then, I was just curious, it’s strange that I’ve started talking in my sleep instead of mumbling” I said trying to act like it was nothing but curiosity

“Yeah that is pretty strange” dad said round a mouth full of bacon

“You’re worse than her for how bad you eat dear” mum chided playfully patting my dad round the back of the head

“Oh Taylor your uncles coming to stay for a couple of weeks to help me with some business that needs taking care off” dad causally said

“Huh, that’s nice, I think I’ve only met him a time or two, I thought he wasn’t interested in the company” I asked trying to test my dad’s lie

“well he isn’t but as you know he’s an accountant and he offered to help me with some of the book keeping” he said it with out even batting and eyelid, this got me worried, what if he’s lied to me before and I’ve not known better, he could have lied to me about anything and I wouldn’t be the wiser, it actually made me slightly angry but I kept my cool, I wanted to see how this all panned out

“When’s he getting here then?” I asked with out even looking at him, I felt betrayed, but knew I was being foolish

“he actually caught the late night flight over here, I have to get to work, do you think you could go pick him up from the airport, it’ll give you a chance to drive your new car and you two can get to know each other then”  dad asked then handed me some money for gas and what ever else I wanted, I knew then that he really wanted me to go pick his brother up, I took the money and asked when I should set off, the airport was about a half hour drive away from where we lived “he said he’d ring when he got there, he doesn’t mind waiting half an hour for you to get there, said it would be easier than you waiting there for him to arrive, I gave him your number, so he’ll ring you” I nodded and went upstairs to get changed.
