Chapter 21

thought I'd be nice and put a chapter up for you guys :) hope you enjoy it!

Lance and I arrived back at the house some time after the sun had set, as we walked through the door we where greeted by Amber, Deane and Joe, there worried expressions turning into looks of relief as they spotted us

"Where were you guys?" Amber asked as she looked us over

"there where some things we needed to sort out" Lance explained as he breezed passed the gang into the kitchen, he pulled a bottle of whisky and a tumbler out of the cupboard before sitting at the table and pouring himself a glass, this was the first time I'd seen Lance touch alcohol

"For almost three days?" Deane asked skeptically from where he was perched on the edge of the sofa, I looked to Lance for guidance but all I was met with was a blank stare as he tipped the tumbler of whisky towards his lips, I rubbed my forehead in frustration, Lance had already voiced his opinion about telling everyone of my new godhood and his opinion was that they didn't need to know, just as I was about to open my mouth to make up some excuse Kali strode in from the back garden, just behind her stood the shadow I had bound to me, as the shadow walked closer to me I felt more than saw the marks on my face appear

"Jeez Taylor, what the hell is up with your face!" Joe practically shouted as she jumped up off the sofa and strode towards me, I took a step back before she could touch my face, almost flinching at her proximity

"Taylors a reincarnated goddess of creation" Kali said nonchalantly "and I'm a goddess of destruction" she looked me square in the eye as she spoke, watching for my reaction, my gaze never wavered from hers

"Dude! Seriously!" Deane shouted as he jumped up from the sofa and strode over to where I was stood "that's so cool"

"uh not sure about it being cool, I need to talk to Kali for a moment" I said still keeping my gaze leveled at her, we walked out into the back garden and sat down on the grass with our backs against the house, we sat in silence for a few moment, both collection our thoughts, I ended up breaking the silence "I think this belongs to you" slipping the ring out of my pocket and presented it to her "I'm guessing you're the one who's been keeping my temple clean as well"

"temple...oh yeah, after you died I spent a lot of time there" she said while taking the ring out of my out stretched palm, the hesitation had told me everything I needed to know, I smiled at her hoping that she didn't notice it didn't quite touch my eye's, she smiled back oblivious "should I put this on then?" it was a question inside a question, I knew what she wanted

"If that's what you want" I gave her my measured answer, she once again smiled and put it on before reaching around her neck and unclasping the chain that held the almost identical ring, she softly took my hand and slipped it on, I resisted the urge to flinch as the cold metal touched my skin, I sealed the deal by leaning over to her and kissing her gently, she leaned in for another kiss but stopped when she heard my stomach growl, she chuckled as she pushed herself up off the floor

"I'll go get you something to eat" she stated before disappearing into the house, I sat for a moment or two more to collect myself before making my way back inside, Joe, Amber and Deane where sat on the sofa's watching T.V when I walked in, Lance had put away the bottle of whisky and instead was hovering over the oven cooking what smelt like stake, my stomach growled at the smell

"guess where both starving" Lance chuckled as he produced a plate from one of the cupboards and started dishing out a meal that any five star restaurant would have been proud to serve, I was so preoccupied watching Lance dish out that I didn't notice Kali walk up behind me until she wrapped an arm around my waist and lean her chin on my shoulder

"I'm going to head out for the night" she stated off handedly before making to leave, I quickly grabbed her arm so that she couldn't move

"Can't you stay tonight, with me?" I asked innocently, she looked deep in thought for a moment

"I guess I could" a smile played at her lip's as if she's wanted me to say that.

Lance served the food and we sat in silence while we ate, I complimented him on his cooking before announcing that I was retreating for the night, Lance frowned at me as Kali got up to follow me up the stairs, I knew I'd have to explain to him later what was going on.

It felt nice crawling into a warm confortable bed after almost three day's of no sleep, I had to strain to keep my eye's open as I lay down "looks like someone's tired" Kali laughed as she cuddled up to my back and put a possessive arm around me

"I haven't slept in almost three day's, I'm absolutely shattered" I giggled sleepily

"try and get some sleep then" she replied before laying down behind me, I closed my eye's but constantly pinched my arm to keep myself awake, it was hard when my body was screaming at me to sleep, I slowed my breathing down and lay as still as I could so that Kali thought I'd fallen asleep, thankfully I didn't have to wait too long before she slowly slipped out of bed, I felt the breeze on my skin as she opened the window and climbed out, cracking my eye's open a tad I got up and snuck over to the window, careful to keep myself out of her line of sight, I took the ring off and placed it on the bed where I had been laying, something gave me the feeling it needed to stay there, checking that she was far enough that she wouldn't spot me I quickly changed forms and climbed out of the window, I knew I'd be lighter on my feet in my tiger form and quickly made after her once I'd made it to the ground, I kept at a distance and out of sight as much as I could as I stalked after her, she wound her way down roads and ally's before coming to the edge of a forest, with one last look behind her she slipped inside, it would be more risky to follow after her from here as I would have to keep closer to her to keep from getting lost, making a snap decision before she got to far ahead and followed after her, just as I started thinking that maybe I'd been wrong about her she stopped in a clearing, there stood the shadow from the night with the blood pack leader and next to him stood a tall man who was broadly built and had an uncanny resemblance to Kali

"Is it done?" the man asked as she approached him

"Yes, it seems I have her back where she needs to be" Kali said bowing her head slightly

"good, we can't have her running around freely, she can have all the influence but you need to control her, that's the easiest way of taking control of the clan, it's funny really, when this all started I thought she was going to be a major threat but it seems like a blessing in disguise, now dear daughter of mine, you need to get that girl to marry you, once she is she'll have no control, she'll have to do as you demand" there was glee in his voice as he spoke

"of course father" Kali had a sickening smile on her face as she agreed, I had heard enough, stepping back to leave I heard a branch snap underfoot, I kept completely still as I watched them turn in my direction

"Are you sure no one followed you?" Kali's father asked

"I'm sure, the only person who could have was Astra" she pulled the ring off her finger and held it out a little way from her, looking into the ring she then presented it to her father who did the same thing, as he did so she spoke "...and as you can see she's still back at the house in bed" I signed in relief as I realized I would have been found out if I hadn't have taken the ring off, being more carful this time I made my way back out of the woods, thankfully Kali had walked in pretty much a straight line so finding the way out wasn't difficult, I quickly made my way back home.
