Kelly walked into a dark level inside a brick structure, with a sturdy bridge right over bubbly green acid. She stared around silently taking a couple of steps forward waiting for the boss to appear.
"Hmph. I wonder where that dragon could be, he's supposed to be here by now." Kelly said as a look of confusion pervaded her face.
"Yeah! Let's g-go?" Billy stammered as he jumped into the level trying to seem completely pumped and ready to go. The same exact look of confusion spread across his face as he exchanged a glance with Kelly.
"Hey! Come out!" Kelly shouted looking up at the black pixel ceiling. The level trembled and shook when she screamed which sent a smile creeping across her face. "Here he comes." She then took a fighting stance and began to breath slowly with anticipation. But the normal dragon that would stomp down and roar at them fell completely limp from above and hit the platform with a thud.
"What in the world?" Billy said as he stumbled over and poked the already defeated boss. "This shouldn't be." The dragon then blinked and disappeared as it would as he would once defeated.
"I know, what's going on? Billy did you use a cheat code because you were scared?" Kelly asked scolding Billy. He stared back looking not only scared but a little offended at her accusation.
"No all I did was warn you. Plus I don't even know any cheat codes, that was always you!" Billy shouted back
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry. I'm just disappointed that I don't get to fight a boss."
"Oh but you do sweet Kelly." A familiar voice echoed through the dark level and sent a chill down Kelly's spine. She retook her fighting stance and looked around quickly.
"Oh really? Who would that be?" She shouted back.
Then as she said that, she glanced into the darkness in front of her, from which John emanated. He walked slowly and steadily looking down with his hands behind his back. He then stopped a fair distance away from Kelly. She stood straight up again and glanced confused at him, then disgusted and angry.
"So you finally decided to join us?" She said harshly.
John stood there quietly not saying a word. He pulled one hand from around his back and pushed his glasses back up onto his face then slowly returned it.
"Nothing to say? If you don't mind we're trying to finish the game here so if you could just get out of the way that would be nice."
"Kelly that's not nice." Billy said whining and looking at her.
"Oh but Kelly. If I move out of your way you won't get to finish the game." John finally spoke up. He still had both his hands behind his back and refused to look up at his comrades.
"Why is that? What, are you not going to move? Did you forget I'm stronger than you John? I can push you out of my way." Kelly said sounding angrier with every word. She then began to advance toward John.
"Kelly stop! We don't know what happens if he dies in the game!" Billy shouted and tried to grab Kelly's arm but she pulled away and walked faster toward a silent John.
"Now. Do you want to move now, or do I have to make you move?" Kelly said now close to John. Her muscles were tensed and she felt a heat rising in her chest.
"Do what you want." John said. He still didn't even look up at Kelly which made her even angrier. She then sucked her teeth, raised her arm and brung the back of her hand to his face which made John stumble to the edge of the bridge.
"Kelly stop it!" Billy shouted. He could feel tears welling up in his eyes.
John then stood straight up facing Kelly and looked up meeting her angry gaze. He had a red handprint on the side of his face, yet he smiled at her. Not a happy smile but a taunting smile. Kelly then stepped toward him again, let out a war cry and kicked him in the chest sending him flying backward off the edge of the bridge and toward the bubbling acid below.
