The Sphere

Chapter 10

"I shouldn't have left. I should go back. But what if Kelly is mad at me? Or worse dead? Nah John can't beat Kelly. She's too smart. And he's a pansy." Billy sits alone at the edge of the videogame door speaking softly to himself. He feels terribly for what he did to Kelly leaving her there and all. But it was an act of desperation. "I can't go back. Kelly will beat me up for sure. But what about John, what if I go back to save him? He is still my brother. I don't know what to do." Billy frowns and stands up.

    He slowly turns and starts walking toward the portal that led him there in the first place. He feels completely helpless and afraid of his two best friends. "It's just not worth it, I wish I never took that thing in the first place." He kicks his foot at the floor and glances back toward the dungeon one last time.

    Then right as he is about to step out of the portal the terrain completely changes around him. Every block and pixel completely flattens and loses its color until he is standing in a completely white empty space. He looks back to where the temple should be and sees Kelly chained to the empty white floor and John standing over her waving toward him.

    "Kelly! John! What happened?" Billy shouts as he starts toward them cautiously.

    "Don't worry about it Billy! Just don't talk to strangers!" John shouts back.

    "What the hell is that supposed to mean John?" Kelly snaps at him. She lurches her body toward him as if to attack but the chains keep her secured.

    "You will see soon enough my love." John says and caresses Kelly's face softly.

    "Don't touch me!"

    Billy stands there watching as if he's chained down just like Kelly. "She lost?!" he thinks silently to himself. It's unbelievable even Kelly, smarter and stronger than John in every way lost! It's completely scary to Billy.

    "Well it was nice catching up with you Billy. But it's time for our next game. Ciao!" John shouts to Billy and types into the sphere.

    "Wait John! Stop pl-" Billy shouts. But before he can finish John presses enter and the portal behind Billy closes in on itself and everything around them shakes. Then buildings, and houses and streets all arise from under them. In a matter of seconds Billy is alone again and he's standing in the middle of a huge city. "Oh come on. What now?" Billy sits on the new sidewalk and buries his face into his hands. "I just want this to end!" He shouts then silently weeps.
