The days passed quickly. Esmerée was getting used to going to school and having friends her age. Her dad still send her to school every morning but after school. She goes back by herself. Trina and Bethany were always there by her side. The other day they handed in their mashed up script to Ms. Delilah. It wasn't selected for the charity play but at least they tried. Another group of students' play was selected. They decided to go for Bluebeard, a French folktale. It was about an aristocrat who married several women but all of his wives vanished mysteriously. He persuaded a women to marry him later, after hosting a wonderful banquet. She married him, living at his chateau with her sister. After a while, he decided to travel abroad so he gave the keys of his chateau to his wife. His wife was curious about the forbidden room he warned her about. She discovers a room filled with blood and corpses of his missing wives. She told her sister about it and planned to flee the next morning but Bluebeard came back and found the bloody key. He threatened to kill her but she asked for the chance to pray with her sister. Luckily, the brothers of the wife and her sister arrived and killed Bluebeard. In the end, the wife inherits his fortune and castle and has the dead wives buried. She then used the fortune to have her other siblings married and eventually remarries herself and gradually forgets about Bluebeard.
Bethany was relieved that their play wasn't picked because she didn't want to go through the trouble that the team responsible for was facing. They had to run an audition, get volunteers, organize the play, prepare costumes as well as props. It was hard work. Bethany rather watch the final product than put her hands in. She was also bad at anything that has to do with making props and costumes. She hated art because she had no artistic talents in her. But on the other hand, she still had to participate in something or else Miss Delilah will cut her marks. In the end, she decided to make Trina and Esmerée join her to bake cupcakes to sell. It wasn't difficult persuading both of them. The two of them gladly joined in. They too, had no idea what to do. Either ways, they still had so much time since the charity was a week away.
"So we're going to make chocolate chip cupcakes, nutella cupcakes and oreo cupcakes. That should be enough right?" Bethany said, writing it down on her note pad.
"Yeah. We'll just make huge batches of them," Trina said, searching for recipes.
"You know we have to go to Mr.D's class soon," said Esmerée said, keeping her things into her bag.
"You guys go ahead first. I'm going to the bathroom," Trina said.
Bethany and Esmerée left first. They saved a seat for Trina as well. Mr.D came into the class after a while but Trina never came in. Bethany shot a glance at Esmerée.
Where is Trina?
Mr.D asked them to take notes of the next chapter he's going to start teaching so the both of them took out their pens and notebooks. Trina was still nowhere to be seen. Should they look for her? Esmerée raised her hand and asked for permission to go the bathroom. Mr.D permitted her so she left the class quickly, visiting all the possible bathrooms she could have went but there were no signs of her. She looked around as she head back to class slowly.
She made eye contact with Bethany immediately when she got back, shaking her head from right to left. Bethany sighed. This was not like Trina at all. She never skipped class. Bethany knew that.
"Where could she go to?" Bethany whispered.
"I have no idea. I'm worried."
"I say we search for her after this class."
"Yeah okay."
After Mr.D's class, both Bethany and Trina split up to search for Trina. Splitting up provides them a higher chance of running into Trina. Bethany went to the right side of the school while Trina targeted the left. The only had a few minutes till their next classes. They next classes aren't the same. Bethany paid a visit to the cafeteria and the football field while Esmerée entered the library, media room and school hall. The two of them still couldn't find her. Esmerée checked the bathrooms once again, and this time, she checked every cubicle. For those occupied cubicle, she gave a knocked on the door and asked if the person inside was Trina. Still, no sign of her.
