"It's so weird we are back in school, considering everything that has happened," Trina said by Esmerée, leaning against the lockers. It was early in the morning, and Esmerée felt so tired. Must be the magic she has been doing.
Esmerée nodded and returned to reorganizing her locker.
"Guys! Guys! I hope you guys don't mind but I've registered the three of us into the Halloween dance committee!" Bethany said, running towards them with a piece of orange paper in her hand.
"You what?!" Trina groaned.
Bethany bit her lips.
"Why?" Ivy continued on moaning.
"It'll earn us some extra credit?" Bethany shuddered.
"I don't think Esmerée and I need the extra credit. You don't need it too."
"I thought we all should meet some new people. It's not like it's a bad thing, right Esmerée ?" Bethany encouraged, looking hopeful.
"And plus, it'll be Esmerée's first experience as an event committee! We should go with her!" Bethany continued.
"But she never signed us all up for it," Trina sighed.
"It's okay. I don't mind," Esmerée told the both of them, locking her locker.
"See? It's a good idea!" Bethany smiled.
"Let's just go to class," Trina suggested, trying not to be any more negative about the fact that Bethany literally just forced her into something she is not keen on.
"So we'll have our first meeting today at the end of school. It'll take an hour or shorter, something like that," Bethany went on.
"What's it like? I mean, what do we even do?" Esmerée asked.
"We decide on a venue, decorations, food, and ticket price," Bethany explained.
"Do we get to do the decorations?"
"Yes! That's the part I love. Oh! By the way, I'll be going home during lunch to change my outfit. I'll see you both after lunch," Bethany told them, flipping her hair back.
"Why? Your clothes are fine," Trina frowned.
"Well, yeah but I want to change. Don't worry about it too much. A girl can change clothes whenever she wants to."
"Hey. Can I talk to you alone?" Damien said from behind, stopping their conversation.
Bethany's eyes widen as Trina gave Esmerée a naughty smirk.
"We'll see you later Esmerée," winked Bethany.
Esmerée blushed and turned to face Damien.
"Hey. You okay?" he asked, concerned.

Flashback to last night :
Esmerée felt even more tired than ever. She felt the ache all over her body. Thank gosh she was not wearing heels.
"That was some dinner. The guy behind was making such a scene after the girl rejected him...." Damien said.
Her vision was blurry. She could see the colors fusing together. Sure it was sad to see someone's marriage proposal go wrong but you don't exactly know the reason behind it. Esmerée didn't want to think anymore. She was fine before and during the date. Why was she feeling this way now? She tried to walk properly, hoping that Damien would not notice. Her posture was getting worse. Her eyes wandered from the left to the right.
"Are you alright?" he asked.
She turned to him. He noticed. They stopped walking and she straightened herself, trying hard to look at him straight in the face. His face was lit by the street lights. For a moment, she thought he actually was really good looking, until she started seeing doubles - no triple of Damiens.
"There's so many of you..." she mumbled.
"What?" Damien frowned.
She gave in.
Damien caught her.

"Yeah I'm fine. I guess I was just really tired yesterday," Esmerée reasoned.
"You shouldn't have come to school today," he said.
"Classes are important. That's why I'm here."
"Maybe you should just skip the rest of school."
"I can't. I promised Bethany to join her in the event committee. The Halloween dance thing."
"You are into that?"
"No. But I thought I try it out. Bethany was the one who got all of us to go."
"Promise me you'll rest after that."
"Why?"
"Isn't it obvious?"
Damien looked her in the eyes, his hands touching her arms.
"I've got to go. Class is starting soon," Esmerée said, pushing away his arms. He didn't care if he was late to class. He just watched her walk away, worried that she'll fall any moment.
