Mikoláš laughed. He laughed louder. Esmerée thought he seemed a little cuckoo now.
"You got that story right," he laughed.
Ivy frowned.
"And I know why you want that grimoire," he added on, calming down, rubbing his neck.
"You have it?" Ivy asked.
"Yes. No. Maybe. I don't know... Either ways, I can't let you have it," Mikoláš admitted.
"Why not?" Ivy continued on.
"What you want is not allowed. It will upset the balance of the universe," he warned.
"I have seen people like you disobey the universe," Ivy said, "And the consequences were small."
"No consequences are small. It is the disguise of a work in progress," Mikoláš answered, unimpressed with Ivy's perception.
"Well, we don't care. The whole universe can screw itself and it wouldn't be my problem," Ivy retorted.
"Hush!" Elizabeth cut in.
"Anna said it won't affect the universe," she continued.
"What Anna told you was false. She thought she found a way but there is no spell, no matter how dark it is that wouldn't affect the universe," he told her, eyes flaring.
"I believe Anna," Elizabeth stated strongly.
"I don't know what was your relationship with Anna but I'm not like her. I think it is time for you to give up on whatever objectives you have and move on with life. Be grateful. Not many can live for so long," Mikoláš said.
"But-" Ivy started.
"Go. If you come back looking for that, things will get messy," warned, before turning his back on all of them, walking home.
Esmerée was a little disappointed. Why wasn't he helping her out?
"Let's wait here for a few more minutes," Ivy said, sounding a little off.
"What for?" Esmerée asked.
"We'll stalk him, silly," Ivy smiled. That was the kind of smile that makes you know that something is cooking up.
"Why should all us go? Wouldn't one person stalking be safer than three?" Esmerée questioned. She didn't want to be in 's hate-list if discovers that they have been stalking him. Ivy probably ignore her.
"Right. That's right. I'll go. Elizabeth. Keep her in line will you?" Ivy narrowed her eyes.
Ivy flew off without waiting for Elizabeth's reply. She did not literally flew off but it looks like she did because it was so quick. Esmerée couldn't keep up with her eyes. Blink once and it would seem as if she wasn't there.
"I'm thirsty..." Elizabeth muttered under her breath.
"Come with me," she ordered, grabbing Esmerée's arm roughly.
Esmerée lurched forward.
"What are you doing?!" Esmerée frowned.
Elizabeth just continued dragging her along.
[Behind the scenes : In history, it was rumored that the real Anna was Elizabeth's lover.]
