Chapter four"How are we going to take steal a laptop from the office!?" Grayson questioned me, his voice booming against the walks. I quickly covered his mouth with my hand. All of a sudden, I felt something warm agains my palm.
"Ew! The gross you idiot!" I exclaimed, as I pulled my hand away. Grayson only laughed as I rolled my eyes and smacked him on the shoulder. He held his shoulder in pain.
"That's what you get! Now can you actually help me now?" I questioned him. I had told Grayson about how I needed to find out information about some people. He then told me we needed a laptop first, for some random reason.
"I'm not good at stealing anything, I can barely steal a muffin without getting caught!" He exclaimed as I held back a small laugh and rolled my eyes.
His green orbs stared at me with curiosity and amusement.
"Fine, then I will get it!" I told him as the two of us looked at the office. Our adoption home was constructed as if it was a actual house. There were rooms like actual houses, and the owner who ran it had a separate office.
"Be careful!" He said to me, as he casually sat back on the couch, pretending to be reading some type of book.
I slowly opened the door and immediately saw someone in their. It was the orphanage runner, Delany, who was passed out in her office chair, papers everywhere.
Wow, she's not working, that's for sure!
And wasn't it like 1 in the afternoon?
Slowly, I quietly shut the door. I haven't been this stealthy in my whole entire life. I slowly placed my foot down on the carpet in hopes it wouldn't make noise.
Wrong again.
The floorboard creaked and I almost had a panic attack. The noise was so loud it echoed throughout the entire room. I silently cursed myself out as Miss Delany stirred, causing me to panic.
She was about to wake up, what was I suppose to do!?
I all of a sudden decided it would be best to crawl. Without thinking, I was on my hands and knees. I quietly crawled to the desk where she was sleeping.
All of a sudden y hand hit something sharp. I let out a small yelp, as the top of my head collided with the desk. I could feel the entire top of the desk move. My hand must of hit a nail or something.
"Whose there!?" A voice boomed which startled me once again. Quickly, I'm scanned the room for something to hide behind or in. I mentally cursed because there was nothing in sight.
I could hear her rise from her chair. I could hear her walking to the opposite side where I was on. I stealthily crawled to the middle part of her desk, while holding my breathe.
If she caught me I'd be in a pickle!
Just in time, because she looked over to the side I was previously on. I used this as my chance, and crawled under the part where her chair was.
"These children," She muttered. I held my breathe, listening to her footsteps get closer. I scrunched up to the end of the desk and prayed she didn't hit me with the chair or see me.
Suddenly, a crash was heard from outside.
"Oh no, what was that?" I heard Miss Delany muttered as she left the room. Once she shut the door, I let out a breathe I knew I was holding, and peeked from the bottom of the desk.
My hand was throbbing from hitting the nail, and my head hurt too. I looked on her desk and noticed her mackbook laptop was their. Without hesitation, I snatched it from the desk and quickly looked in the hallway to make sure she didn't see.
