Simon left shortly after, thankfully. It was hard to look at him and pretend I felt the same way, when in reality, I didn't.
Simon and Lily were two completely different people.
Lily was the kind of girl to sweep you off your feet. She was unpredictable, and at times, a ticking time bomb. But maybe that's what I liked about her. Not to mention she was beautiful.
Simon, on the other hand, was a sweet, kindhearted person. He knew how to treat a girl right, and he always had my best interest at heart. He's been my best friend for years, and he's even been there when no one else was.

The biggest difference between the two?
One was a boy and one was not.

Today was a school day, Monday. I had rode the bus to school, like always, but Lily wasn't on it.
I felt like she was avoiding me, but she wouldn't do that, right?
Instead of meeting Simon in front of the school, I went to my locker by myself. I didn't want to be with him right now.
But mostly, I was afraid he would display his affection at school.
That was something I definitely didn't want.

I walked to first period, and saw Lily wasn't in her seat for once. She was talking to some other girl.
Usually she wouldn't talk to anyone, just sit down and wait for class to begin. Sometimes she would talk to me afterclass, but that was it.
I was sort of happy for her.
She was making friends, and she was socializing for once.
Part of me was extremely jealous.

Class ended on a low note, she didn't talk to me at all, and instead of sitting in her usual seat; she sat next to to the girl.
I knew this girl. Her name was Faye, and she was an average person. I had heard she lived on a farm toward the outskirts of town, but other than that, I didn't know much.

Lunchtime came, and Simon sat beside me.
He sat in the seat Lily usually took.

"Simon, you know that seats taken."
"No, it's not. Lily is sitting over there," he pointed to where Lily was sitting.
She was sitting with Faye.

I glared at her from a far, before standing up, and leaving the lunchroom.
She was definitely avoiding me, I knew that for sure.
I went into the bathroom, and sat in a stall.
After a few minutes of quiet and being alone, I heard two girls shuffle into the bathroom. One was giggling, a high-pitched obnoxious one, and the other spoke in whispers.

"You're a lot more fun than the other people at this town." I recognized this voice as Lily.
"You definitely are more fun than me," said the voice, accompanied by another obnoxious giggle.
"So tonight works?"
"Tonight is perfect."

I walked out of the stall, and saw Lily and Faye together.
I rolled my eyes, and Faye shuffled out of the bathroom, leaving Lily and I alone.

We glared at each other, before Lily moved closer to me. She leaned in towards me, and I wanted her to hug me so badly. I wanted her to talk to me again, so we could make up and be happy.
She didn't hug me, but walked away. Leaving me frazzled and confused.
