*Timeskip To Hospital*

"We're here!" The man, who's name I learned is Dan, exclaims. Jen's been crying as we've walked. I feel so bad for her. We walk into the hospital.

"Thank you for everything," Jen tells them, sniffling.

"No problem," Dan replies, "we should probably get going, it's getting late. Call us if you need anything else." He hands me a piece of paper with their phone numbers on it.

"Thanks!" I say as they walk off. We walk up to the receptionist's desk. "Hi," I say, "we're looking for..."

"Linda Carter," Jen tells the lady, interrupting me.

"Room 37b second floor," the receptionist tells us, and we hurry to find her. When we finally reach her room, Jen slowly opens the door.

"Mom?" She asks.

"Over here," a woman's voice croaks. Jen and I run into her room.

"Mom!!!" Jen exclaims, hugging her, "I've missed you so much! What happened?"

"Your father," her mom croaks, "your father hurt me. Really bad."

"I... I thought you were dead," Jen says.

"Your dad really hurt me that night," her mom replies, "but he didn't kill me. I think today's finally the day." Jen starts crying.

"Don't die mom," she whispers, "please. I need you. Bob's been hurting me, he attacks me me every day."

"I'm sorry baby," her mom whispers back, "I'm sorry." All of a sudden, the monitor starts going flat. Her mom looks me in the eyes. "Take good care of my baby for me," she says to me before her eyes close. She is dead. Jen cries into my shoulder, and the doctors come rushing in.

"Is everything ok?!" They ask us. I shake my head.

"She's dead," I state, "my girlfriend's mom is dead. The only person besides me who ever truly loved and cared for her."

"Oh," one of the doctors replies, "I'm sorry for your loss." Jen just cries harder, and I wrap my arms around her. I feel so bad for her, and I keep thinking about what her mom said to me - take good care of my baby for me. I know that she was talking about Jen, and I will protect her with my life. I decide to call Dan. He picks up after a few rings.

"Hello?" He answers, "this is Dan."

"Hi," I say, "it's Pat,"

"Hey Pat," Dan replies, "what's up?"

"Lots of stuff," I say, "first off, Jen's mom just died, and second, we need a place to stay."

"You're welcome here," Dan replies, "we'll come pick you up."

"Sounds great," I say, "thank you so much."

"No problem," Dan replies.

"We're going to stay at Dan and Jem's, if that's ok with you," I say to Jen.

"That's fine," she replies, sniffling, and we walk outside to wait for Dan and Jem to come pick us up. When we get outside, I see a little fluff ball sitting under a bench. I can't tell what it is. It's huddled towards the back of the bench, whimpering. I walk over to it, holding Jen's hand. She smiles as I bend down. It's a cat.

"Here kitty kitty," I say to him, reaching out to pet him. He purrs.

"He's adorable!!" Jen exclaims, "we have to keep him." I pick him up. He looks hungry.

"I hope Dan and Jem aren't allergic to cats," I say as Jen pets him. We wait for a while, then I spot Dan and Jem's car. We walk over to it, and Jen is holding the kitten.

"Let's go!" Dan exclaims, and we get in the back.

"Hope you're not allergic to cats," I say to them as Dan drives off.

*Timeskip To Dan And Jem's House*

"We're here!" Jem exclaims as we get out of the car. Their house is pretty big.

"I have to go to the bathroom," Jen tells me, running into the house.

Jen's POV

⚠️*Trigger warning*⚠️

I run into their house, and immediately look for the bathroom. Once I find it, I shut the door and lock it. I can't do this anymore. I just can't. My mom is dead, all this time she was alive and now she's gone. I go into the bathtub and close the curtain. I reach into my pocket and pull out my razor blade. I have to do this. I press the tip into my arm, and wince as I slowly drag it down to my elbow. I immediately start crying. I push it in deeper, and realize that I'm loosing a lot of blood. It's everywhere. I start crying harder, and I bring my knees up to my chest and hug them. I make a few more small cuts before slipping the blade back into my pocket. I feel kind of dizzy. I turn on the water and put my arm underneath it. The water washes away a lot of the blood, but you can still tell that something happened. I start crying even harder.

Pat's POV

Jen's been in the bathroom for quite some time, and I'm worried sick. "I'm worried about Jen," I say to Dan and Jem, "she's been in the bathroom for almost ten minutes now."

"Maybe we should go check on her," Dan suggests, and we walk over to the bathroom. I'm afraid to open the door. It's so embarrassing just standing in front of the door.

"Fine," Jem says, "I'll open it." She knocks a few times. "Jen?" She asks, and Jen doesn't respond. I'm really worried. "I'm opening the door." She walks in, and I don't see Jen. Jem slowly opens the curtain to the bathtub, and I see Jen's hair peeking out from behind it. Jem talks to her for a while, then walks out of the bathroom.

"She wants to see you," she tells me, and I rush into the room.

"Jen?" I ask. "Is everything alright?" I can hear her crying.

"In... Here..." she sobs, and I pull back the curtain. There's blood everywhere.

"Jen!" I exclaim, and she shows me her arm. There's a deep cut in it. I grab some gauze from under the sink and wrap it around her arm. She's shaking and crying.

"I'm... I'm sorry... Pat..." she sobs, and I hug her and let her rest her head on my shoulder. She cries into my shirt, and I carry her out of the bathroom.

"Do you guys have a spare bedroom?" I ask Dan and Jem.

"Yeah," they reply, "we'll show you to it."

"Omg, what happened!" Dan exclaims, realizing that I'm carrying Jen.

"Long story short," I say, "she cut herself."

"Wow..." Dan replies, and they walk us upstairs to our new bedroom.
