Day 131, 0:900

About to head out to find food and the rest of the group. Mack is scared out of her mind and I a little nervous. We don't know what's waiting for us when we open the door. I have a sniper rifle but it's no good for up close, Mack has a baseball bat that was Jess's before all this started. She never really likes Jess when we were little, she said that it was wrong to adopt someone else's child. No matter what I said she would argue about it. As we got older she started to understand but I don't think she saw why we adopted him. Jess was abused from birth and need a new family that would love him. That's what mom and dad did.

Mack is holding close to her bat and closer to me as we exit our shelter. It's not that far to the convince store but we would rather be safe than sorry. The alley ways are starting getting smaller as we got closer and we haven't heard or seen any sign of the creatures. 'What is going on here? Why have we not seen anything yet?' I think as we exit an alley way. But as usual i thought to soon. For just as I round the corner I see at least eight of them standing in front of the store.

I push Mack back in to the alley way before she notices them too. She looks at me as if I'm crazy. "They are in front of the store. We have to go through the roof." I say in a whisper.

She looks around for a ladder then walks to the back of the store. She holds her bat up ready to swing at anytime. I follow close ready to pull her and run if needed. Peaking around the corner we don't see anything so we hurry up the ladder. It isn't very tall building so it doesn't take long to reach the top. Getting inside is a little harder because we can't make any noise. Another thing is we don't know what is in the store.

Pulling open the service door on the roof. We have to be very quiet while entering the building. I step out of the service room we are in and look around to make sure there is nothing in it. Mack starts to shake and cry a little. She isn't easily scared, normally, but with everything going on she has changed and so have I. When we were growing up Mack was the brave one and I was the cry baby but now it's my turn to take care of her.

"Mack don't think about what's outside. Just think about happy things and how much fun we had when we were little. You can do this." I whisper holding her hand.

She nods and holds her bat tightready to swing. I walk a few inches ahead of her grabbing knives as we pass by them. We keep an eye out for any sign of the creatures but mostly for boom babies. They are the worst of the creatures that came from this disaster. They look like normal babies when you first see them but if you pick them up the start to cry and explode. If you manage to get away before they do you may run into a horde of creatures. Boom mommas sometimes walk around carring them then leave drop or throw them.

10:00

No one knows why they do this when they can just attack but it obviously works for them. I have seen two boom babies explode and they were scary. Mack is getting can goods when I turn the corner and hear a noise. We are almost done getting food for when we find the group. 'Why now? Why do those things pick now to come in the store?' I look at Mack, who already had her bat ready, and then peek around the isle. Something moves fast a few isles down and looks to be coming at us. Grabbing a knife from my bag I charge at the thing.

The thing grabs my wrist and twists it up and around causing the knife to fall out. His voise whispers in my ear. "If you really want to kill something with a knife, hold it so closer to you."

He leans and kisses my neck softly. My mind is frozen and I can't move. Mack yells at him, "LET HER GO YOU CREATURE!"

"Mack if you keep yelling like that then they will come in the store." He stares letting me go.

"Jess?" Mack looks at him as if she is looking at a ghost. "I thought you had been killed. When I got separated from you I heard screaming and then those creatures."

"We were close to the hide out and those things came after us. Tanner managed to get the girls while I was a distraction. I went looking for you after I got away. Looks like Brady found you first. Brady? Brady?" He waves his hand in front of me.

"Huh? Sorry, I couldn't catch my thoughts." I look up at him and smiles.
