Chapter 1-Begining

I believe everything happens for a reason, but what happened to me was unbelievable. When I was younger I believed in magical faraway lands with fairies, unicorns, trolls, giants and mermaids. Then I started to believe in werewolves, vampires and other terrible creatures. I used to hide in my room at night, too scared to come out till morning as I was afraid of the supernatural. My mum used to come in every morning to say 'all the monsters are gone' and every morning I would believe her. This is my story. My story about being a part of the supernatural world. My story about becoming a vampire.

It was a warm summer night and I was walking around aimlessly through the streets. I had nowhere else to go. Mum had told me that there was no place for me in her house anymore. She told me I was seventeen now and I had to go live by myself. I could see it in her eyes that it was a lie. I was so confused. Why would she lie to me like that?

"Ok, I am going back there to ask her the real reason why she is doing this to me," I told myself out loud.

I turned around and started walking back towards my house. I am glad that I had stopped for a while otherwise I would be on the other side of town by now. Luckily I was only a block from my house. The sun had completely gone down. The only light I had was the dim street lights lit every couple of metres. I finally rounded the corner and I saw my house. I saw a black wagon in the driveway that I had never seen before. I slowly started walking up the driveway and I heard loud voices. I crept up the stairs and made sure I didn't step on any of the loose wooden boards. I leaned close to the door and started listening to their conversation.

"Katherine, I demand you tell me the whereabouts of your daughter!" shouted a male voice.

"I told you, she died a year ago in a car accident," said a frightened female voice. I recognized that voice. It was mum's.

"The council has sent me to tell you that they gave her life and they expect you to pay with your daughter like you told them you would," said the male voice angrily.

Then I realized something. Mum had sent me away to protect me. I shouldn't be here, I should have listened to her. What deal had she taken? Why was the price me? I leaned closer and started listening again.

"You knew the price and you have failed to pay. With this insult to the council, you shall pay with your life. If I ever find your daughter Katherine, I will not hesitate to hand her over to the council," the male said in a furious tone.

I heard my mum scream. And then the screaming stopped. Tears started pouring down my cheek. I stepped back and heard a creak. Damn! I had stepped on the loose floor board. The front door suddenly opened.

"My, my. What do we have here? Katherine's daughter I assume," the man said with a smile.

I turned around and ran. I got to the black car when I felt his hands push me against the car. I started struggling against him but he was unnaturally strong.

"I am guessing that is a yes. You are the property of the council now, it's no point struggling. Your mother asked made a deal with them and the council made her an offer. Once you had turned seventeen, you were the property of the council. When your mother didn't pay, the council sent me to retrieve you at any cost," said the man.

"What is the council? Why did my mother need to make the deal?" I asked.

"I do not know, I am only a messenger," said the man calmly.

And with that he opened the back door and shoved me in. When he closed the door I heard a click. Great! Locked in. The car had a cage divider between the front and the back seat. The man started the car and drove out of the driveway. I turned around and looked at my house.
