Last chapter of the trilogy my children. I'm sorry.
I was taking the kids to the hospital to see Alex for the first time since the cancer came back. It's been two weeks and I refused to bring them here. Especially after Emmy came into my room, screaming because Alex had coughed up blood in the bathroom.
"Daddy! Daddy!" Emmy's voice was blood curdling. I jumped out of bed, I heard coughing and crying. I ran to the door, where she was sitting, tears streaming down her face.
"What? What's wrong?" I said, frantic.
"Papa!" Michael yelled from the bathroom. I looked in expecting the worst, Michael was sitting on his knees next to Alex, who was slouched on the floor. Blood trailed down his chin and onto his shirt. There was blood in the sink. I wanted to vomit. I wanted to cry. I wanted to collapse onto the floor as the memories came back to me. I grabbed Michael off the bathroom floor, he had blood on his hands. I set him on the floor next to Emmy, who was wailing. I dialed 911 with shaking hands.
Everything was a blur. The cancer was back and Alex wasn't holding up.
I took a deep breath. Emmy was perched on my hip and Michael walked next to me, his tiny hand wrapped around my index and middle fingers. I lead them to where Alex was staying. When Michael saw Alex he ran over to him. "Papa!" He said happily.
Alex smiled weakly. "Hey little man." He rasped.
"Papa, I made some friends at school!" He said happily. He climbed onto the chair next to the bed. Alex reached up and took Michael's hand.
"That's wonderful. Are you making me proud?" He asked.
"Yes Papa," Michael said.
I sat Emmy at the foot of Alex's bed. "Mrs. Detwieler says that Michael is one of the best in the class." I said. I picked up Michael and sat him in my lap.
"Alright! High five!" Alex said holding up his hand. Michael high fived Alex, smiling.

I got the call at four in the morning, three weeks after taking the kids to see Alex for the first time. His heart had stopped and they couldn't revive him.
I felt tears streaming down my face and could only hear the blood rushing in my ears. Emmy and Michael came into my room carefully, holding hands. Emmy trailed behind Michael and it was a bit obvious that Michael had convinced Emmy to come over.
"Daddy?" Michael asked, quietly. Seeing Michael, who looked so much like Alex made me hysterical. I couldn't control my sobbing. Emmy ran over and climbed into my bed, hugging me. I had to explain to them a few days ago that their Papa probably wouldn't live with us anymore.
"Where is he going?" Emmy asked me.
"He going to live in the sky with Grandma." I said, tears were in my eyes.
"Why?" She asked, "I thought Papa loved us?"
"He does and he tried very hard to stay here, but he can't."
"Can we ever visit him?" She asked me. Michael stayed very quiet.
"No, I'm afraid that we can't." I said.
"I will miss Papa." She said, Michael was crying.
"I will too," I said. I pulled both of them into a hug.
"Did Papa move to the sky with Grandma?" She asked.
I nodded, and hugged her tight. Michael ran over and jumped onto the bed, bawling.

"Are you sure you wanna do this?" I asked him, pulling into the cemetery parking lot.
He nodded, squeezing my hand. "Yes, Emmy, I'm sure." He smiled softly.
We walked over to my Father's grave, and tears pricked at my eyes. He sat down next to the headstone.
"Hello Mr. Hamilton, I'm Jason. Your daughter's boyfriend." I smiled, tears fell down my face. I sat down next to him. He put his arm around me and I put my head on his shoulder. "Your daughter is so amazing, you should have heard her sing her solo in the musical. She did so great." He said.
We sat like that for at least an hour while Jason talked about how much he loved me to Papa.
He stood up and pulled me up with him. He looked sharp in his tux that he insisted on wearing to meet Papa. I wore a yellow sundress that was Papa's a long time ago. Dad gave it to me a few years ago.
"And, Mr. Hamilton, I already asked your husband, and I thought I should ask you as well," he said, stumbling over his words. A cloud went in front of the sun, making it kind of dark. Jason grabbed my hand, kneeling down. I put my hand over my mouth and he pulled out a small black box, "I know you can't answer me, but if you could just show me somehow, I'd like very much to marry your daughter."
The cloud in front to the sun moved and the sun shined bright again.
I nodded my head frantically as Jason slid the ring on my finger. He stood up and hugged me, twirling me around. "Thank you Mr. Hamilton." Jason whispered.
