"I now pronounce you Mr. & Mrs. William Behlendorf. You may kiss the bride."
That was just 24 hours ago. 24 hours since Will and I got married. 20 hours since our reception. 14 hours since we landed at night on Hawaii. 12 hours since we got to the hotel. 10 hours since we sealed our marriage with sex. 8 hours since we fell asleep together for the first time as a married couple. Now here I am, 3 in the afternoon, still lying in bed, only having been up for a few minutes. Will and I lied in bed, my back pressed against his chest, one of his arms was thrown across my body, our hands intertwined. As he slept, I looked at our rings recalling our whole relationship.
When we first met. We had met at Dalton's house that day I bumped into him at the record shop. We ended bonding over our song writing and our love of food. That was also the night he and Dalton wrote Superman. Will later told me that he helped write it about me because I was dealing with a broken heart at the time. Once we moved out California, we were nearly inseparable. I was extremely lost at the time, just having been broken up with and feeling very depressed.
Our first date not as a couple. For me and Will's first date we went to the 9th Avenue Food Festival in NYC, because our bands happened to be there for the tour we did together. I took Will to a Cajun place my dad took me to when I was little. He was a bit skeptical based on the signs that talked about alligator sausage and crawfish creole, but after a lot of urging I got him to try it. And he loved it.
Our first date as a couple. Will took me on a picnic at the Hollywood sign. It was the first time he told me his feelings and I was in heaven. That didn't last long because that was also the day Michael put Will in a coma. That was a long six months of devotion on my part, because I had no idea if he'd wake up or not. But once he did, we were even more in love.
Our first anniversary. When we went to Hawaii and I got pregnant with the twins. It was a magical trip and I got my gorgeous engagement ring and charm bracelet, commemorating our relationship. Everyone knew what was going to happen except me and I'm still a bit hurt that everyone kept it a secret from me.
The birth of our beautiful twins. That was a long process, 16 minutes apart that's not normal. But I'm glad I have them, because they're my life. Dana's such a little athlete, she dances on top of playing soccer, cheerleading, and playing softball. I have no idea where she gets it from because neither one of us are athletic, but we support her nonetheless. Colton is more like us, he's a complete musician. We put him in piano lessons at the recording studio to start but each time he asks to play another instrument we let him. He's up to 4 now and he's only 7. They're extremely smart and mature for their age too, and I'm just so proud of them.
And now me and Will lying in bed together, a married couple in their early 30's, it just makes everything worth while. Suddenly I felt Will nuzzling my neck, shocking me out of my trance. "Baby, I've been calling your name for 5 minutes now. Are you alright?" I nodded. "Yes sorry. I was just thinking." Will gave me a puzzled look. "About what?" I turned onto my side to face him and snuggled in close to his chest. "About us. And you know what I realized? Without you, I would've never found who I was meant to be."
