Anger built up inside me as dinner came to a close. I hadn't had the chance to talk to her at all due to Bryce stealing my precious spotlight.
I pondered on how I was going to get y revenge. Ariel wasn't an option as her and Zach were paired up. The only other person I could think of was Loren. She had left the table in pursuit of a bathroom. I dragged my feet willingly to the door on my right, leaning up against the frame.
The door opened and out stepped Loren, her golden hair swishing as she turned to face me her eyes widened as mine narrowed. Her mouth opened as she said, "Mark... What-what're you doing here do you have to use the restr-"
I cut her off, jumping to the point, "Loren, would you help me out... You're my best friend, you know that." I shifted on the frame and stuffed my hands in my front pockets.
Loren nodded and asked what I needed.
"I-I need you to-umm...Accompany me for the rest of the night... " I muttered some parts praying she didn't hear me. I couldn't bring myself to ask her out so my plan had faltered. A weak smile tugged on her lips and I flashed her a fake smile. We then returned to the dining area.
I sat down in my seat gesturing Loren to come sit next to me. A frown played on my lips as Karisma glanced over at us, weakly smiling then returning to her food, fiddling her fork.
She was jealous. A warm eruption of guilt found it's way to my throat as Loren reached over, grabbing her hand in mine and smiling. I smirked maliciously and winked at her, playing along. I felt Karisma's intense glare on me as a fingered Loren's palms. Bryce noticed her anger building up and swiftly rubbed her back.
She seemed to tense up at the touch of his fingers which made a variety of feelings cross my stomach. She stood up and guilt piled in my stomach. She walked over to Loren and closed her eyes. "Loren... C-can I talk t-to you p-please? In the k-kitchen?"
I heard Loren's frustrated exhale as she agreed to Karisma's proposal.
