As the days passed along, so did my thoughts of Mark. I honestly, didn't know how to feel. We had prescribed him to the hospital and he had been there for over a week. Doctors said he'd be fine and he only had a few broken bones.
As I sit in my AP English course, I can't help but, feel awful for what I've said to Mark and how I've treated him.
"Karisma." I quickly glanced over to my teacher who was standing close to my desk, "Will you come up and present your lie?" I quickly nodded and stood in front of the 20-some people of my classroom, and presented confidently despite my worry.
The bell rang but it was drown through my busy thoughts as I stared at the blur of people roaming the hallways. 'Lunch,' I thought, attempting to deprive the worry from my brain, 'I wonder if Kayce saved me a seat."
Kayce was Gabriel Mathis (a close friend of Mark's) girlfriend. Her and I had become quite close through the year and we both enjoyed one another's company. As I stepped in to the lunchroom, I witnessed Kayce wave my way and I slowly padded over to the semi-full lunch table.
"Heyy!" Kayce and Bryce sounded in unison. I replied with a quick hi and sat down, feeling too anxious to eat anything. I glanced around as Bryce and the other people at my lunch table engaged in deep conversation.
Kristen was sitting alone at her lunch table, and sadness was apparent on her face. I quickly looked back at my group of friends before grabbing my bag and scurrying over to her table.
"Hey." I said softly, my voice cracking because of how tired I had been. I had gotten little to no sleep due to homework and stress. She looked over shyly then knitted her eyebrows together.
"What do you want?" She squeaked, her eyes growing as she realized what she had said, "I-I MEAN I-" I cut her off.
"No, it's fine." I giggled, "Listen, whatever Mark does to you, and even what I witnessed, that's totally unacceptable. I've talked to him, and... Well... He's in the hospital right now and-"
"The hospital?" She muttered questioningly, looking confused and amazed.
"Yeah.." I muttered, glancing at the floor. A small smile spread across her face, and her eyebrows narrowed worriedly, "I'm sorry, what happened?" I looked up at her timidly, shaking my head, my eyes narrowing, "I-I can't say...."

The school day ended and I headed straight for the hospital; I walked in to the cool, white waiting room and instantly walked over to the secretary desk.
"Hi, i'm Karisma, and i'm here to see Mark Thomas..." The secretary lifted her eyebrows and stared in to my green vibrant eyes.
"Mark Thomas was released two days ago."
