"ALEEXX!!" Katie Morgan screeched into the phone.
"KATIIEEE!!" Her best friend, Alexander Bradley, screamed back to her.
"It's the last day!" Katie sang happily into the phone, dragging the 'y' out, while Alex laughed. "Don't you laugh at me! I happen to be funny, but when I try to be, you never seem to laugh!" Again, Alex's laughs could be heard through the speaker. Pressing the speaker button on her phone, Katie began to brush her hair as she argued with her friend.
"That's because when you try to be funny, you aren't in the least Kats."
"Well, hmp. Fuck you Alex and your logic." That only earned her more laughs from the other side of the call.
"Fifteen minutes, I'll pick you up?" Alex asked after a moment on trying not to laugh.
"Fine. I'll see you then."
"Yep. Bye Katie Baits."
"How many times are you going to call me that?"
"When you stop complaining about it. I'll see you in a few."
"Whatever, bye." And Katie hung up before she got to hear his last goodbye, which could end up being another ten minutes. The two could spend forever talking about nonsense, except it was quite annoying to Katie when she had to get ready for school or going out.
After putting on the last of her makeup, Katie found a pair of dark colored jean shorts and lavender colored tank top. She pulled on the clothes and her black and white converse before grabbing her phone and walking down the stairs and to the kitchen.
"'Morning mom, 'morning dad." She greeted while grabbing a granola bar from the pantry.
"Good morning sweetheart, excited for the last day of being a sophomore?" Her mother, Katherine, asked in reply. Katie shrugged.
"Yeah, of course. And Alex can drive this year, so I get to make him drive me everywhere instead of you guys." Katherine laughed at this, and smiled at her daughter.
"I'll see you later in the afternoon, right?" Katherine asked. Katie nodded.
"Yeah. I'm going over to Emma's with Paige, and I think I'm meeting Alex at the movies later too. I think."
"Alright, have fun!" And Katherine pecked Katie's cheek before sending her out the door to the waiting car in the driveway. Katie waved as she walked out the door, shutting it behind her.
"Hey Allie. How are you doing on this fine morning?" Katie asked as she got in the backseat. Alex's football friend, Zach, was sitting shotgun, while his other friend, not on the football team (he was more into band and music), Ethan, sat next to her.
