Chapter 10.

The night was over soon and I was awoken to the sound of curious students, pondering the big questions of what today's initiation would be. The other students and I began heading over to the lockers to get ready for the big day, I tried to stay somewhere in the middle of the horde, but as students found their friends they drifted off further out.

I sat in the corner of the locker room fiddling with my boots and listening to the conversations around me.

"Yep! No more awkward small talk or 'getting-to-know-you' stuff. Today, I get to let my sweetheart do the talking." I heard the red cloaked girl who I had found to be named Ruby sigh happily, she was talking to her sister Yang, who looked nothing like Ruby, in her cowboy-ish clothes. Meanwhile Vomit boy or Jaune as I've heard some people laugh about is currently trying to chat up Weiss, the white haired 'princess'.

I took Laae out of my hair briefly, letting my hair fall down and extended her in my palm, she is definitely a lot heavier than before.

"Your hair's down, does that mean someone's going to get scratched?" I looked up to be greeted by a smug faced Cardin.

"Oh and what do I owe the pleasure." I replied sarcastically as I rolled my eyes. I placed Laae back in my hair. I don't know how it works, but when I put Laae in my hair she sorta gathers my hair up into a ponytail and now thanks to the repairs I didn't even have to swap between he stages as she does that now too, it used to confuse me, but now I'm just used to it.

"Sarcasm, I like it, it gives you a purpose." He smirked at me.

"If you have some kind of fetish for annoying people, I preferably want no part of it."

"Who said you get a choice?"

"Would all first-year students please report to Beacon Cliff for initiation? Again, all first-year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately."

"I have more important matters to attend to, brake a leg or, maybe two." I snarled as I got up to walk away.

"For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest." Professor Ozpin said as he slightly waved his coffee cup around.

"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of 'teams'. Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today." Gylinda informed us.

"Teams? I don't remember anyone mentioning anything about teams." I whispered under my breath, caught a bit off guard by the new information.

"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well." Ozpin stated.

"That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years." He continued.

I heard someone talking from down the other side of the line, but regained focus on Ozpin talking.

"After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die."

'And what if someone doesn't make eye contact, also this dying thing doesn't sound very fun although I did see it coming.' I thought to myself as I noticed two boys beside me making up a plan to meet somewhere.

"You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. You will guard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?"
