Show Stealing Moves

“You’re doing it wrong, Adam,” Christina whined, sitting on the floor looking so hopeless with her partner who clearly didn’t have moves like jagger.

Adam sat beside her, both staring at the big mirror of the dancing studio they rented for the week to practice for their dance performance in one of the events of one luxury hotel in LA. The Voice coaches were invited and asked to compete for a dance number instead of showcasing their voices since everyone already knew they clearly have the voice. They were paired by two, Blake and Shakira, Adam and Christina.

Aside from the competition on the event, Blake, Shakira, Christina and Adam made a deal just for fun that whoever gets to win on the event, the losing pair will have to kiss. Blake, being paired with Shakira, was so confident that they’ll get the crown. While Adam, on the other hand, was thinking of the best way to sabotage them.

“Last time I checked I was a singer not a dancer,” Adam snapped, sipping on a bottle of water, breathing heavily.

“Adam, I don’t want to lose!” Christina whimpered as she crossed her arms and pouted her lips.

Adam laughed, staring at her in the mirror. “Have you seen Blake dance? He moves like a robot.”

“But it’s Shakira we’re talking about here, hello!” she said, waving her hands in the air as if bringing the reality into Adam’s thoughts that it’s Shakira they should worry about.

“It’s just Shakira,” Adam said with no worries in his tone, but in all honesty, he knew they’re in trouble.

“It’s just Shakira,” Christina mocked him with a funny face which made Adam laughed. He loved it so much whenever Christina tries to be funny, more likely because she brightens up the whole place. “C’mon, let’s do it again,” Christina said as she stood up and walked towards the speakers to press play on her iPod. When the intro of Candyman started playing, Adam stood up as well, and started dancing.

Christina moved to face him and just stared at him, smirking. “Don’t look at me,” Adam said, feeling embarrassed at Christina’s watchful eyes. Christina just laughed it off and moved to his back placing her hands on his hips. “Hey, what are you doing?”

“Just stay still, Levine! I’m trying to help you, okay?” Christina stated. She slowly moved his hips on his side. “Now, you have move your hips to the right smoothly, while you step your right foot forward and then get back to your original position. Then move your hips to the left while you step your left foot backward. Get it?” Christina instructed.

Adam was stunned at how professional she sounded. He couldn’t tell what exactly he was feeling but he could feel his heart beating faster than usual when she started moving and talking like a real dancer she is.

Christina continued teaching him the basics then moved on to the next steps. “The beat is fast so you need to keep up with it, Adam. Now, watch me do the routine, okay? Then, it’s your turn. And remember all the steps,” she said, pressing the replay button and stood on her spot. As she heard the intro, she started swaying her hips, snapping her fingers and turning around, which made Adam’s eyes drool. She taught him the steps and they practiced for hours. They got halfway through the song without any mistakes, and for Christina, it was partly a mission accomplished. Still, they were yet to do the hardest part. The lifting and such.

“Christina, can we rest for awhile?” Adam said, catching his breath. He sat down on the floor once again looking so tired.

But the woman in front of him was so eager to get this perfect, so she grabbed his arm. “Adam, it’s not the right time to get some rest!”
