Her eyes were still puffy and red. Her hair was a mess. Her skin looked so pale. It seemed like life was taken away from her when she showed up like a wrecked ship in their family dinner. But who could blame her? After all that happened the week before, no one would be surprise.
None of them had commented on how she looked. They tried their best not to talk about what happened. All of them felt bad, of course, and also mad, but as days passed by, they realized that maybe it was the best for both of them. They talked to Patsy, and she explained why Adam had to do it, and she was very sorry for everything. She wasn’t expecting that he would do it either, but if she was her son, she would have done the same thing if she thought it’s for the better. Behati’s mom tried to take it all in, and understand Adam’s sudden disappearance on their wedding. Maybe Patsy was right. She explained this all to her daughter but it seemed like she wasn’t listening at all so she never tried again. Time will come, Behati would be able to accept this all. They understood that the pain was still fresh, and that she was still upset. All she needed was some time, and that’s what they, as a family, are willing to give to her. And of course, they would always be there if she needed them.
It wasn’t late yet when Behati went home. Her mom drove her to her unit. She had tried her best to beam her up but it seemed impossible. After she was gone, Behati walked straight to her bedroom and lay down on her bed without changing her clothes. She faced the window where the stars were shining bright and the moon was the shape of a perfect circle igniting some light to the earth. It would have been a great night if someone was there with her side to cuddle with, and that someone was Adam. But reality suddenly kicked in. No, he wasn’t there, and he wouldn’t be coming back. That very thought dragged tears to her eyes once again. She had been crying every night thinking of what her life would have been if they got married, if they had said their vows to each other, if she had walked down the aisle, if he hadn’t walked away. So many thoughts that had been rambling through her mind that she couldn’t ignore.
She was there but he wasn’t. She was full of life on that day until he decided not to show up. She was mad at him. She wanted to find him and slap him hard in the face. She wanted to shout at him and let him feel how much hurt he had caused her. But no, she couldn’t, because she didn’t know where to find him. She tried to contact him but he couldn’t be reached. She went to his house and he wasn’t there. She tried to look for him in—— in her house but he wasn’t there either. It broke her heart into million pieces that she couldn’t put back together. That’s when she realized, he didn’t love her the way he loves her. Christina.
Christina. She wanted to come to her to apologize for breaking into her house on their supposed-to-be-wedding day looking for Adam, thinking that he had come to her. She wanted to apologize for shouting in at her. But then, she grasped. No. She wouldn’t. She was the reason why Adam couldn’t give her the love that she needed. She was the reason why Adam hadn’t showed up on their wedding day, that’s what she believed in anyway. She was the reason why she was feeling like shit right now. All of these, it’s all because of her. So, why come and apologize when in return, she got the worse?
She couldn’t tell what she was feeling right now. Mad, upset, disappointed…. Everything was mixed up, and she was just so tired. She turned to the other side of the bed, and there she thought she saw Adam. She suddenly got up, but he wasn’t there. Her eyes were just playing tricks. Thinking back on Adam, the memories of that day was still very fresh in her mind. And from that, the image of the abandoned yesterday started to play in her mind for a millionth time.

Christina was lying beside the man that she never thought she would be able to touch again. It was still a vague memory to her how everything had happened, but all she knew was that he chose her. Looking at him in his blissful sleep, she remembered how much she admired him, and how happy she was when she found him.
