4. Stranded

“Where’s Blake and Cee-lo?” Christina asked Adam as she put her baggage inside his car compartment.

“Blake has some work to finish while Cee-lo got an emergency meeting, so they both rescheduled their flights,” Adam said, helping Christina carry all her things up in the car. It was just a four-day trip but he felt like she packed up for a whole month. “Is it really necessary to bring all these?” he asked, pointing at her pink bag and her make-up kit.

“C’mon, they’re my best friends on this trip,” she said, winking at him while getting in the car.

Adam started the engine and they headed off to the airport. When they got there, they stopped first in a coffee shop since they were pretty early.

“I’m so excited to get back on The Voice,” Christina cheered as she peeked at herself on her small mirror she was holding.

“Yes, we’re excited to have you and Cee-lo back too,” Adam smiled. He kept on glancing at her but made sure that she wouldn’t notice. He loved the feeling to be around her. She was like a stress reliever. Being around her was enough to forget all the problems he has.

The flight to North Carolina was quiet. Christina sat by the window and just slept the whole time which made Adam daydream about her for an hour. They arrived at NC at around 1PM. When they checked in at the place they were staying in, they packed separate clothes for their trip to the Hatteras Island. Since they were in different rooms, they planned to meet at the lobby at around 2PM.

“This is it,” Adam said to Christina who seemed a little consumed. “Hey, are you okay?” he asked.

“Are we gonna spend the night there?” she asked, crossing her arms on her chest.

“If you don’t want to, I think we can sail back before sunset.”

“It’s not that I don’t want to. It’s just that I’ve only brought one dress, then a pair of underwear,” she said as she stepped on the boat that will take them to Hatteras Island.

Adam was surprised. His mouth dropped open. Did Christina just tell him that? It was so inappropriate that she told him she only brought a pair of underwear. But, he just laughed it off his head. In fact, he liked it.

He followed and sat next to her. As he looked at her beautiful frame, he realized how much he missed her. He was glad that she’s finally coming back to the show. It was really different without her, and he couldn’t help it but to think more about her when she was gone. Right on those moments that he didn’t see her every day, he felt that he started to feel something deeper for her than just being a normal friend. He knew it because he couldn’t take her off of his mind the whole time she was out the show. He even had dirty thoughts about her, geez. Christina didn’t know about what he feels and he didn’t have a plan to confess yet. He thought it was better for them to stay as friends for now until they got comfortable with each other again.

She had noticed that he’d been staring at her a lot since he picked her up in her house. Christina didn’t know what was on Adam’s mind and she kinda wished he was thinking about her because she has been thinking about him too since the day she signed back on The Voice. She had missed him and their banters. She missed being his pain in the ass. When she heard that they planned an outing for the four of them, she couldn’t hide her excitement. Of course, she missed Blake and Cee-lo too but with Adam, it’s more intense.

They arrived at Hatteras Island at around 3PM, so they still have a few hours to enjoy their stay. The sight of the lighthouse was so wonderful and with the horse that were scattered around it made Christina paint a big smile on her face. It looked so great.
