Chapter five: smashed orbs

After many twists and twirls of dancing with  Rowan and breaking away from him,I decided that even though Begira wasn't here that I should still have fun, so grabbing a glass of a multi colored and bubbly liquid, I ran over to violet
"Hey let's dance" as I hand her another drink and tap them together
" why are you in a good mood now?" Violet said in a curious but happy voice as she raised on of her eyebrows
" I've decided that I should have fun and relax , I can't be uptight all the time" I said smiling as I take a gulp of the sweet champagne in my glass
"Well then let's go get some Dance partners then" violet looped her arm in mine as we set out on the hunt for dance partners.
"I would gladly be a partner to one of you ladies " said rowen from behind me with his rough large hand outstretched to me, as I reach to grab his hand
Violet stepping in front of me
"I'm most greatful for your offer sir"
and escorted Rowan onto the dance floor.
I was quite insulted that violet would do that but there was a group of men happy to take Rowan's place, I ended up dancing with a fairly handsome man he was tall and had large shoulders and a slim face , his hair was tawny blonde that went to just above his shoulders and beautiful dark amber eyes.
"I'm Eli and you are?"
"Delia" I said as Eli gave me a twirl
"Well Delia you are by far the best dancer and the most beautiful woman at this party" Eli said with a chuckle as we glided on the dance floor
"Thank you Eli but I believe you are greatly mistaken"
I didn't see that compliment coming I must've looked surprised because he stared back at me in confusion
"you think I'm beautiful? No I'm not beautiful, violets beautiful." I said looking down at my feet trying to hide the fact my face was turning red.
" violet is but in a lustful way but your different your kind and friendly, no man could ever dream of pinning down violet unless unbelievably wealthy but with you I can tell your not looking for the richest man just love or happiness" his eyes never left mine , they were dark brown with slits of gold and lighter brown.
" I'm speechless" smiling slightly.
" I'm very good at doing that " he said letting out a breathless chuckle as the music faded out
"I'm getting light headed care for a walk?" I said lightly, looking up at the floating orbs in the garden.
" I'd love to" said Eli grabbing my hand as we leave the dance floor. looking for violet in a wave of swirling colours a pair of blue eyes pierced mine. It was Rowan he's look very focused as though he was watching his target, noticing that I caught him staring he diverted his eyes back to violet.
walking down the path I had earlier with Rowan. Eli was wonderful we talked about our family's, he was the oldest of three siblings and the only son.
his father was a diamond smith and his mother stayed at home with the youngest sibling Anya.
" oh I adore Anya , she's so quiet and yet she knows so much for a child of her age" said Eli with adoration as he pushed his wavy hair out of his eye
"How old is she?" Turning to him
" she's turning seven in a month, but she is a very smart girl, my dad jokes that she's older than him"
"What's her spirit?"
I was expecting an owl or some very wise kind of spirit
" it's  a blue bird, what's your spirit Delia"he said lightly
" mine is a monarch butterfly named Mavis, what's yours Eli?"I said looking up at the sky
" oh mines a mountain lion"he said walking briskly up the path
"Hey you have the same on as the prince of Castenia you lucky duck" I said almost breathlessly as I tried to keep his pase
"Delia I..." Eli started to say but fell silent as we made our way around the last bend and seeing where the party was supposed to be but it was pitch black all the glowing orbs had been smashed and everyone was gone.
