"Miss Riverie where is your homework?" I looked up at the teacher, her slanted eyes glaring down at me. "I lost it." I replied nonchalantly. I could feel the anger radiating off of her and shifted further away. "You will get it photocopied and give it to me this afternoon, understand?" She demanded, trying to control her anger. I nodded in a 'yeah, whatever' kind of way, looking out of the window. She stomped away, leaving me to stare at the brunette in front of me.

I felt a twinge of annoyance looking at the guy. He was the class heartthrob, classic goodie and gentleman. Well im not falling for it. There was someone in my previous school that was exactly like him, except for the gentleman part. Sasuke, was it?

Just my luck to be in the same class as someone like him again. I twirled my pen around absentmindedly, not listening to the class. It suddenly flew out of my hand and onto the floor. I bit my lip. Shoot. That was a ballpoint pen! The clang sound it produced caused the teacher to snap her head over to me, narrowing her eyes.

Just as I ws about to get out of my seat to pick it up, Light- I know, strange name. You know what else is strange? His last name spelled backwards is Im a gay. Big hint.
He picked it up, turning around in his seat to pass it to me. "You dropped this." He said the obvious truth, plopping it onto my hand.

"No shit Sherlock, the entire class knew." I retaliated, clenching my hand around the pen. He smirked slightly, turning around. Damn he pisses me off.

>..............................<

The bell finally rang, signalling the end of school. I packed up my stuff, ready to go to the police station.
"Riverie san." A voice halted me. I turned around. "Ye-" I stopped, frowning at the speaker. "What do you want?" I asked rudely, changing my tone.

"Didn't Seishin sensei tell you to photocopy the homework? I can lend you mine." Light offered, smiling. I shook my head. "I dont care about her. At most she would just give me a week of detention." With that, I turned around and left the classroom.

Why was I always so annoyed when talking to him, you ask? He is always around girls, always known for being surrounded with them. Its quite disgusting knowing that his safety net was being around those of the opposite sex.

Light's pov

Clang! I glanced down, seeing a pen rolling near my foot. Oh, its ballpoint.
I picked it up, returning it to the girl who sits behind me. I could feel her intense stare on my head, a frown on her face. Whats wrong with her?

"You dropped this." I stated, dropping the pen onto her hand. She rolled her eyes. "No shit sherlock, the entire class heard it." Huh. Weird. The girls would usually be excited to see me even talking to them. I smirked slightly, returning to the front. She's different.

All through the class, I thought of her internship at the police station.

If I befriend her, she would tell me some of the information that they have on Kira. She would be my spy, so to speak.
At the end of class, I stopped her from leaving, making up some way to have a conversation with her. She replied nonchantly like the way she always does, turning me down. I frowned.
Sooner or later, I will get her on my side.

??? Pov

"There were 23 more deaths yesterday and the day before! What is the meaning of this?!" I entered the room, to be greeted with shouting. No surprise, as usual.
I looked around, searching for Matsuda. "Does that mean the theory L has have been put down? There were murders every hour of the day!"

I found the boy, stood next to him and listened to L's voice over the speaker. "You are missing the point." L began, seeming irritated. I nodded, grasping the situation. I opened my mouth to speak, but Matsuda shushed me.
