Never Again Chapter 6

I just wanted to thank iLiVe4GaMeS for the support shes been giving me, and her fanfic, J, was the one that actually gave me inspiration to write this ^~^

I sat in the college hall, wearing a formal uniform. I actually managed to get in, getting a perfect score on the test.

And im the student representative. Whether it was Seishin sabotaging me or not, I will never know. I clutched my speech in one hand, fingers tapping nervously on my thigh.

Math, logic, deducing? I can do. Speeches and public speaking? Nuh uh.

Light sat next to me, staring straight ahead. Just my luck huh? He was in the same school as the one I've been aiming to get in. And he was the other representative.

"First order of business, we have freshman representative Light Yagami, Freshman representative Hideki Ryuga, and assistant representative Naoki Riverie." The headmaster spoke into the microphone. Murmurs were heard in the crowd at the name of Hideki Ryuga. Oh well. Just an impersonator I guess. I walked up the stage, Light by my side. We stood in a straight line in front of the audience.

I stole a peek at Ryuga and immediately wished I hadn't. That idiot! I cringed, but in a flash brought our my calm facade again.

"As we all embark on this journey.." Light started, but I stopped listening, mind whirling. The audience clapped once he was done, but I could see that none of them were paying attention. L was next. "As we embarK on ThIs new chApter in oUr lives.." I held in my laughter. He was trying to put expression in his speech, but with his monotone voice, it keeps clashing.

With my shoulders shaking, I tried really hard not to explode. The audience clapped once again and I cleared my throat. "As we stand here, in the new semester..." I read through my speech, bowing once I was done. The students clapped once again. We walked down the stairs, L walking unnecessarily close to Light.

"Light. Light Yagami. Your father is Soichiro of the NPA." L began. Oh great. Just great. He's making small talk. We sat back down at our seats. "I have important information regarding the Kira case if you promise not to tell anyone."

At this moment I felt like bashing his head against the wall.

Light closed his eyes. "What is it?"
L stared at him. "I want to tell you, that I am L."

And now I felt like screaming. And bashing my own head against the wall. What do you think you're doing?! I screamed in my head, my fists clenched. "I want you to work in the investigation with me."

I fell out of my chair.

I quickly got up, sitting back down and pretended that nothing had happened.

Light looked at me. "You're in the investigation aren't you?" I rolled my eyes. "Duh."

The two talked for a while more, while I sat in silence, nibbling my thumb, glaring occasionally at Light.

Once the talk was over and everybody left, I turned to L. I opened my mouth, about to say something before snapping it shut and shaking my head, leaving him in the hall.

I trudged down the steps of the school, seeing Light in front of me. I nodded in greeting, and he nodded back.

"Hey Light." L said from behind me. "Nice meeting you." Light replied politely, watching him get into his linousine. L glanced at me. "You coming?" I went inside the car, slamming the door shut behind me. I sat on the opposite end, staring out of the window. "Why are you mad?" A voice said from beside me.
