Cameron sat up and began looking around the room, panic filling her eyes. After several minutes, her gaze came back to Celeste, she let out a gasp and placed a hand to her mouth. I knew Cameron needed time to process all that was going on,she kept looking between Celeste and I , and I saw hot tears streaming down her face. I rushed to her side, placing my hands on her shoulders, but she pulled herself from my embrace.
" I'm not dreaming, am I?" She had crossed her arms across her chest, absent minded rubbing them with her hands, new tears forming in her eyes. " Celeste, please tell me you are a figment of my imagination."
" Cameron, my darling, this is not a dream. Celeste has come to aide us in the war. She will explain everything to you, when you are ready to hear it. Please love, she is not to be held to blame." I had made my way to the bed where Cameron and Celeste were sitting. Cameron looked at my face, and smiled a weak smile. Her eyes were very solemn, and my heart started breaking. Celeste grabbed he hands and tried to smile.
" Cam, love, I am so sorry. I have wanted to tell you, but I was told I couldn't, it was not my place. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me." Celeste had moved closer to Cameron on the bed, both women were crying, and I knew I needed to give them some time. I needed to locate Arguston, to inform him that Cameron was awake. I placed a kiss on Cameron's forehead, and turned to take my leave of them.
The hardest thing I ever had to do was walk away from that hut. I wanted to stay and wrap Cameron in my arms, however I knew that the two women needed this time to talk. Cameron had been through so much the past week, and I was hoping that she would not be to hard on Celeste. The two women had been friends for their entire lives, and I knew they would be able to make it through this.
I stood outside the door of Arguston's hut for a few more minutes, listening to the two women inside. I could only hear a few words here and there, but I feel that things were calm. I took this as a sign that it was ok for me to really walk away this time, the two women would be just fine. I started to walk away, however I only made it a few feet from the hut when I heard my name being called from where I had just taken my leave from.
" Nathanial! Wait, come back!" Cameron had run to my side, fresh tears streaking her beautiful face. She pulled me close to her, our lips close together, " I am sorry I pulled from you earlier, I was in shock." Her words fell into my mouth, and I could feel her breath on my tongue. I reacted the way any other man in my position would, I crushed my lips onto hers, enveloping her in a passionate kiss. We separated after a few moments, but of us breathing heavily, smiles across our lips.
" I am just glad that you are safe my love, I feared the worst, and I was so elated when Celeste brought you out of the forest. Have the two of you discussed the reasons why she is here?" I was slightly nervous about what she would say. I did not know what Celeste had told her, if anything, about their childhood.
" Celeste told me enough, I know she was placed as my guardian, and that she is really alot older than me, the rest we will discuss later. Honestly, having her here makes all this a lot easier to deal with. She is like my sister and not having her here with me was killing me. I know there is more that she and I have to talk about, but I needed to talk to you first." Cameron still had her arms wrapped around my waist, a big smile across her face. " I just needed to come tell you that I love you." She kissed me once more, and turned to walk back to where she had taken her leave of Celeste.
I watched Cameron walk away, memorized by the woman who just left my side. I still could not believe how amazing she was. She had embraced her heritage, and even now, after learning about Celeste, she had not turned her back on her future. She was the power that my people had been searching for, and she would be the one to end Bragden's reign of terror.
