Every little girl dreams of her fairy tale wedding. The perfect white dress, lined with lace and pearls, her hair up in loose curls atop her head. The bridesmaids all in gorgeous dresses, that flatter all of their unique body shapes, all matching each other with perfect smiles. The 7 tier cake, with white frosting and yellow and pink butter cream roses, and the topper a miniature version of her groom and herself. The perfect man at her side, beaming down upon his princess with happiness in his eyes, awaiting the start of there perfect future together.
After the perfect wedding, to the perfect guy, the happy couple head off somewhere magical. Someplace where the air is warm, and the sand is white, and you can lay around all day sipping Mai Thais and drinking all kinds of other drinks with little plastic umbrellas. This was the dream that I had for my wedding day and honey moon, however, things don't ever go according to plan. Especially for me and Nathanial. It seemed as though no matter what we were trying to do, something always went wrong.
I had spent the first few days of my newly married life constructing weapons, for an oncoming war that I found myself thrust into. After learning that Bragden had mailisciously killed Queen Saradia, the people of this village decided that now was as good a time as any to strike back. Nathanial had taken over the reins of leader, and with Thadeus by his side, the two of them had been devising a plan of attack.
I was spending a lot of time with the other wives, learning the traditions of my new found heritage. I felt like I was back in the middle ages sometimes, though, because the men spent alot of time talking down to their wives. I was minding my own business, chatting with a few of the other women, when I heard a man raise his voice, and then I turned just in time to see him strike his wife in the face.
I didn't want to over step my boundaries, but I just couldn't believe the display I had witnessed. I approached the man, and shot him a look of utter disgust. I pointed a finger at his chest and began poking him, I was so angry, and I could feel my blood get warmer. I don't know what happened after that, but the look on the man's face was enough to know something was not right.
I stepped back from him, and heard the gasps all around me. I could feel my chest getting hot, and I suddenly remembered that I was wearing Nadia's necklace. The pain began to increase, and I rose a hand to my throat, I let out a deep breath, and tried to fight it, but Nadia was stronger.
I was no longer standing on my feet, I think I was floating a little above the ground. I heard the familar sound of Nathanial's footsteps approaching me. I wanted desperately to stop what was happening, but I couldn't. My arms were raising above my head, but by no power of my own. The air around us was growing colder, and I was starting to lose what little control I had left. I felt myself slipping away, I wish I knew what was happening.
I felt as if I was watching through a different pair of eyes, and listening with someone eles's ears. I could see blue lights appearing all around us, and I could hear some weird chanting. I wanted so badly to control myself, but I couldn't, I could hear Nathanial shouting my name, but for the life of me I couldn't respond. The next thing I knew the blue lights were shooting from my hands at the tribesmen before me. He fell backwards onto the ground, I was moving forward getting closer and closer to him. I was moving an arm in front of me, pointing straight for the man, when a shout broke through to me.
Nathanial was right next to me now, he looked completely mezmorized by what had just happened. He placed a hand on my shoulder, and I could feel myself coming back into reality again. My breathing was quick, and I needed to calm down. I felt Nathanial wrap his arms around my waist, pulling me closer to him. He was breathing equally as hard as I was, and we just stood for a moment in each others arms.
I suddenly remembered the man, and I pulled away from Nathanial so that I could see where he had ended up. The man's wife was kneeling down at his side, his head resting on her lap. She had tears streaming down her face, and I had no idea what to do. I started to apologize to her, but I felt myself being pulled away. Nathanial obviously needed to get me away from them, for fear someone who try to approach me.
